All tanks have a gradient to them as far as heat and humidity go.
Is the corner that they stay in the warmest? and is the warmest 70°F? If so raise the temps to 85°F on the high side, maybe even 88°F.
Humidity is a visual/tangible observation, is the ground damp to the touch and damp to a...
Give us a picture of the claw! It could be broken or have some sort of parasite infesting it (I had a petshop Het with a huge crack that I didn't notice for several months)... Also is it a communal scorp or living by itself?
Hello Eddy, \m/_
What type of sand and what type of clay? Is it aquarium sand or play sand, is it real fine or coarse? (side note I had real fine sand in a flatrock enclosure, and the sand impacted in the throat and on the mouth and after removal [with tooth pick and tweezers] it was about...
When you say 'clay' is it the "Zoo Med Excavator Clay"? if so and you are still not getting a burrow to hold go with a heavier clay ratio.
I use 100% clay for my A. mauritanicus all I did was preform a few burrows in the wet clay and let it dry for a week or two. To preform a good deep burrow...
To substantiate this fact... I had several scorps Hets and P imps fast for 12 to 16 weeks over the winter months, 3 scorps which were quite pregnant too.
I had an emp who broke the tip of it's telson off, this could be the case for yours too. About it being life treatening... if you are seeing it catch and subdue it's prey then it will be okay, and since it it has no natural preditors in your care then no problem.,
There are two groups of mites you'll usually find, and in lay terms they are the 'good' ones and the 'bad' ones good ones move fast and are benificial to cleaning the tanks, the bad ones don't move and stick to your scorp and will kill them. The bad ones are tanninsh.
Now for the bad news and following that some more bad news...
Okay now the best I can tell I will have to agree with the:
1) Female
2) Male
3) Male
4) Male
suggestions.
Here is a video I took of how to determine the gender of your Pandinus imperator (emperor) or Heterometrus (Asian...
Younger emps are pretty fiesty themselves and don't get emp like till they mature, but from the distant pics and the quick glance I gave it they look like Hets. A clear close pic of the carapace and chela would help.
The general rule-of-thumb is 1 emperor per 5 gallons... That said I've successfully kept 1 adult in a 2.5 gallon tank and 5 in a 10 gallon tank, just do as you stated at least 1 more premade hide than scorp and well fed.
Below is my 10 gallon with 5 emperors, there are at least 3 seperate...
You can always put the gladwear into the tank, there are air holes in it aren't there? The other scorp won't be able to open it and that tank is already ideal temps and humidity...
