Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

A picture of a WC PCF would be nice also. In referance to the photo's on post #1 Picture three an picture two are under very diffrent lighting conditions and NCF color varries a lot durring a molt cycle. Picture three looks like a freshly molted NCF/"gray" If you put picture #2 in photshop...

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

100% Incomplete dominance is they same as co dominance I see were I was making a mistake on my out come with RrXRr,I don't know how I was comming up with that but it was 100% wrong. All three color phase would be present. Now the only thing I'm not 100% on is the "pink" color phase.

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

We need to better define the three seperate color phases rr=grey if this isn't what was being sold years ago as Grammastola sp.north with the white setea, and is the Normal color phase. Can someone post pics of the three color phases in similar lighting? I mainly wanna see what were calling "pink"

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

OK I'm trying to understand the incomplete dominance.bear with me If Rr was bred to Rr the out come would be 25%RR 50%Rr and 25%rr The 25%rr would they then be carring a hetro version of the Red genotype but not expressing the phenotype?(so if two of the rr from the same sac were bred they...

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

With the Rr we are refering to the pink color form correct?Meaning by THEORY if it was codom and rr is the wild type the Rr is carring this "hypomelenistic" gene in a homozygous and hetrozygous form(the red being a super form of the gene displaying both forms of the homozygous trait.) IE Pastel...

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

I meant north,I assume what your calling gray?here is a pic(NOT MINE) not sure if it's against the rules mods please remove if it is NCF I'm refering to this/pink? RCF I'm refering to this/copper red? The only thing that was diffrent on my chart was If it was a codom trait Rr x Rr = 25% RR...

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

Wow not gonna have time tonight to reply to all of this.lol If it is codom trait no breeding out come should have all three forms in one sac.By my understanding of genetics. By line bred trait/sharing parental atributes I mean't like crossing a kingsnake with a corn snake. Some will look like a...

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

So in theory if co dom breeding out comes should be Grammostola sp northXGrammostola sp north = All Grammostola sp north 100% Grammostola sp northXNCF =75% Grammostola sp north and 25% NCF NCFXNCF=75%NCF(visiable het,one homozygous form showing)and 25%RCF(super form, two homozygous forms...

Grammostola rosea: A possible insight into its genetics

I seriously doubt it is a simple recessive or co dom color mutation. It is stated in the TKG that they can be polymorphic(getting diffrent color phases in one sac)I don't believe this either I have had a sac from a wild caught NCF and gotten all NCF(sac was from a WC female)kept 10 until the...

    Cross breading question

Pictures or it didn't happen.....whats being sold as the RCF"chilian flame" G.rosea is not the same spider as as the normal pink g.porteri.The only referance to other color phases coming from one sac is the Tarantula keepers guide. All it does is mention it there are no pictures of the spiders...

Thats why I'm calling shanagans on more than one color phase coming from the same sac

    Cross breading question

This is the way I understand it. G. porteri=AKA The pink phase "normal" G.rosea=RCF "chilean flame" G.sp. North=white colorphase G.cala=red consepton???is this the same as the RCF or "chilean flame" I have heard alot about the diffrent color phases coming from the same sac but never...

    Cross breading question

I wouldn't....I have the "normal" color phase and the RCF.Multiple of both species and they act very diffrently. The RCF are much more active. They don't seem to go off feed like some of the normal ones do,when they do they lose body mass a lot faster than a normal color phase. It's best to breed...

I just had an L.macatan sac explode, courtesy of catfishrod(Many Thanks) I wanna try to raise up as many of these little guys as I can.Rather than have 100 seperate vials I was thinking about packing the vials with straws, plugged with tissue on one end.And then having just one larger tissue plug...
