hello xtreme!
looks like you decided to bring your query in arachnoboards as well. why not try venomlist since you're at it :P
my opinion was a male h.longimanus; species because of the elongated chela and the granulation on the prosoma and male because of the angle of the pectines...any...
damn, awesome pics guys. mine's not as awesome, but its a molt pic anyway ;P
my a.australis right after molt (note that the aculeus is still soft and crooked, it straightened back to normal right after it hardened)
wow, thats a very detailed explanation. are you in IT? good stuff, and thanks!
(i stilll have the hi-res raw pictures, if u want i can send it over to you)
really? i thought gifs are generally smaller than jpegs. the only reason i uploaded it in gif is coz its faster :P
ps: yes, PNG definitely gives better results than a gif :P
all scorpions are venomous, its just how potent their venom is. even if its a h.spinifer or a liocheles sp, i will not risk handling them as scorpions are unpredictable at times, plus i do not know if i have any potential allergic reaction to their venom, and i certainly do not want to find out.
Raul,
Ryan is right; counting pectines is the most accurate way of sexing any scorp. i took a macro of the pectines and counted the teeth. my LQ scored a 29.
Cheers
Arachnophilist, thanks. auto contrast? nope! that will give undesired results most of the time, i adjusted levels, saturation and coloration :P when i got the LQ she was already fat. the owner had a few mealies lying around the enclosure as light snack :D
Mark, thats the result of converting...
this is one beautiful female sub-adult specimen i got over the weekend:
some pics of my a.australis in 4th instar:
before feeding
after feeding
Cheers!
