What in god's green earth is Gigantometrus?

From the very little I have seen of G. titanicus they appear to be extremely difficult to visually differentiate from G. swammerdami, are you familiar with any notable physical differences between the two species?

Case study of a scorpion hobbyist hospitalized from a dangerous envenomation by his Androctonus amoreuxi after hand-feeding it.

His label says it all, 'Egyptian Yellow Thick Tale'. I appreciate that they had taken some precautions to properly label the enclosure to prevent someone from getting in the container, rooting around and accidentally getting stung, but people fail to realize that almost all envenomations happen...

    Scorpion ID request

Since when can you no longer import Pandinus imperator? As far as I understand it there are just caps on the number of individuals that can be imported per year. Is that something that changed for 2024?

Advice needed please for downward facing scorpion molting

If it is indeed a true H.spinifer and not just a mislabeled H.silenus like the majority of "H.spinifer" out there, then he should be just fine. Your temp is good for them, and your humidity is great. H.spinifer like higher humidity than some other Heterometrus, especially with growing juveniles...

    3rd molt in 2 years !

What species is this? Any pictures of the scorpion post molt? I'm keen to know the difference it makes keeping larger species of scorpions at different temperature ranges during their development. Another very experienced keeper made a comment to me regarding the difference it can make on their...

Looking to hear from anyone else who keeps Nebo whitei

That sounds like a decent setup, maybe a bit on the warmer side for these guys, but if you're trying to grow them up quickly then keeping them a bit warmer isn't a bad idea. They can use having substrate that holds moisture a bit better than excavator clay, something like a dirt, sand, & peat...

Heterometrus spinifer sibling communal, good idea?

Here is a short clip of when I was about to mist my current H.spinifer brood from when they were all still 3i about a month or so ago. As you can see in the clip, I still had the group in a fairly small nursery enclosure (fairly small for 42 babies, anyway) but had zero losses due to how well...

Heterometrus spinifer sibling communal, good idea?

I've had a decent amount of H.spinifer brood experience, and have raised communal broods with success. I recently had a female with a brood of 42 and I only finally removed the mother from the group when I found her with one of the freshly molted 4i individuals in her mouth. That said, there...

    Successful H. Spinifer mating??

Awesome, congratulations on the pairing! I've been working with H.spinifer for a while, and I would say if the male had a chance to set the spermatophore then most likely it was successful. However, if these were wild caught individuals (and I'm guessing they were), how long have you had them? I...

    heterometrus id

Indeed, it's difficult to ascertain a solid ID without a better picture. Do you have another picture that we can see the telson of the specimen, as well as one that we are able to see the pedipalps more clearly?

    H. Longimanus

So not only are they parthenogenic, but they're producing offspring well before maturity as well? Do you have any other examples of this? I've heard of rumor of parthenogenesis in H. longimanus, but this is the first time I've heard of them giving birth before maturity. Other species have shown...

    heterometrus identification needed!

I'm with Joey, you'll have to post a better/ different picture for a definitive answer. It's rare that Heterometrus that are sold as Heterometrus spinifer truly ARE spinifer. That said, this might actually be one of those rare cases you actually got the correct species it was labeled as, but I...

Neither imperator or dictator, she is a Pandipalpus viatoris. Weird to see these flooding into the hobby all the sudden, they are really, really cool scorpions. Congrats on the babies!

    Imperator or Dictator

I can tell you decisively that it is a female Pandipalpus viatoris. A good looking one too! They are really cool scorpions, the sexual dimorphism is just as visually apparent as seen with P. cavimanus, although displayed differently, of course. Find her a male and get some captive breeding...

    Asian Forest Scorpion - metabolism

In the link you posted under "Metabolism explained" it is mentioned how quickly scorpions will acclimate to new environments, which is quite impressive. I'm sure there is much more to it than variation of metabolic rates, I'm sure that acclimation also contributes to a lot of the variation we...

    Imperator or Dictator

Pandipalpus viatoris. Lots of these being sold as all kinds of different names right now. Strange, as they used to be nigh impossible to find in the hobby.

    Pandinus dictator or. imperator ?

You're welcome, it's a very good looking female too, congrats! These used to be rarer than hens teeth but have been popping up in the last few years. Where did you get it, if you don't mind me asking?

My Asian forest scorpion unexpectedly gave birth. I’ve done research but now I have a couple questions.

Definitely leave them with the mother and don't worry about feeding them until they are off of their mother's back. Try to offer the mother food, but make sure to remove the prey item if the mother doesn't take it. How to proceed can vary greatly between different scorpions, what is the species?
