    Coping with loss

All pets are difficult to lose. I preserve my inverts but have not been able to taxidermy my mammal pets (not sure why exactly). I am a taxidermist who has preserved other's rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters, etc....I just can't bring myself to do it myself for one of my own. I like doing cremation...

"Must have" Ts that you don't find attractive

Not a fan of OBT's. The attitude and the bright orange are huge turn offs for me. I like earthy-colored t's like my curly hairs, b vagans, and lp's.... Definitely more of a terrestrial girl. I like their big, bulky bods.

    Sad, empty tank

G pulchra all the way - such sweethearts. My b. vagans is also super sweet - the most docile and calm t I own.

Looks female but need a more clear shot. Moisten the skin with a little water and spread gently :)

    Depressed tarantulas in captivity

I know this is a stretch but even water and plants can feel emotion/energy. Plants that are yelled at, called negative names, etc. don't grow as large and as vibrantly as those that are given positive interaction. Water does the same thing but seen on a molecular level. Look it up - lots of...

    First time breeding!

Wow - that was a rush...for myself and for my mm and mf b. vagans. Now that it looks as though they have mated successfully, what can I do for mum and for how long should I wait before attempting to breed her again? Should I minimize cage maintenance, etc? I want to add some substrate to her...

Slow, Seemingly mature female b. Vagans - Elder spider?

Thanks so much. I'll start doing this with all my larger species...I like spoiling tem with crickets I guess >.< But I would rather have them live longer lives.

Slow, Seemingly mature female b. Vagans - Elder spider?

I try to feed her about once a week (at least that's generally when she will eat as she is in the photos). Maybe every week and a half. Perhaps she is just full? Could I try to wait two weeks or more before feeding? And yes, now that you mention, I'll add more substrate. Thank you!

    Best tarantula species

I personally enjoy slow-moving and docile species that I can occasionally handle and/or touch. My g. pulchra, curly hairs, and b. vagans are my favorites for this reason.

Slow, Seemingly mature female b. Vagans - Elder spider?

Luckily she was gifted to me so I didn't have to pay for her - she just has an emotional value. Here are some photos....

Slow, Seemingly mature female b. Vagans - Elder spider?

Hello! Just curious...I recently acquired a mature female b. vagans - I love her...she is one of the most docile t's I have when she is out of her enclosure, she tends to wander and such. But, when feeding, or just in her case, she barely moves. I am mostly concerned with feeding. I will put...
