Very nice choice, the GBB naturally in it's environment doesn't require much humidity at all when they are adults, the spiderlings would need some humidity and then progress into the lower amounts. Some owners on this board even got rid of the water dish and they put some droplets on the webbing...
You are welcome! :D I'm thinking the gravel setups were for TV since they had no tops, I saw a correct setup when his wife was feeding one. It wasn't a bad show but I expected a little better, I know he made other specials as well. I'll look into that and see if I can get my hands on them.
Count me in as well, I couldn't stand the "poisonous" tags the narrator used at all. This show was originally aired in 2002 so it was nice to see the reflection of new things at that time (GBB in natural habitat and the B Vagans in Florida). All the things Rick stated were great to hear. Only...
I just saw this while browsing through my TV listings! Here is TV Guide's description of it : "Profiling arachnologist Rick West and some of the 300 tarantulas he shares his home with. Also: West travels to Mexican caves and Venezuelan rain forests in search of tarantulas; and myths and legends...
Your vagans is enjoying it's home as others pointed out. If a T is able to come out and stay out for a while, IT'S COMFY! :D My aureostriata is out majority of the day either in a mini crater it dug up or in a corner cozy. It only huddles up a bit if I go do maintenance or it will choose to walk...

Looks exactly how mine looks, size, colors, etc. My aureostriata is my first T as well, wonderful choice. I didn't take any chances handling it but it's a carebear to work with during cleaning and maintenance. :D
Good thinking, I had that idea in mind as well if I had a defensive T. I'll do that with my two fairly docile ones as well. Something like a clean, sterile dropper only used to fill the water and give water I think is ideal. Some T owners also use a unused turkey baster as well. I know turkey...
