I am building my own acrylic enclosures and was wondering if anybody knew what adhesive I should use to adhere some 2" aluminum louvers into the holes.
Here is a picture of what I built. Thank you!
It really depends on the individual spider and the individual getting hair kicked on them. Some spiders have a reputation for kicking and some have a reputation for having bad or large hairs. It really is subjective. Some of the genera regarded for having the worst hair kicking tendencies and...
I concur with what the previous posters have said. They will dig some elaborate burrows and you will rarely see anything but their feet unless its feeding time.
I love Psalmopoeus, especially irminia but they are fiesty! I personally think P.regalis are a bit more laid back regardless of venom potency. If you have experience with fast and flighty tarantulas just get whatever you prefer. Or..just get them all. They are all fairly cheap as slings.
There are 3 species that come to mind when I think about only keeping one. P.metallica, A.versicolor, C.cyaneopubescens. Deciding which one would be the only one I keep would be a bit of a conundrum for me.
Ultimately, disposition varies from individual to individual.
I've only had experience with B.auratum and B.boehmei. Boehmei are definitely big time hair kickers as they seem more nervous. Auratum kick less but will still kick when startled. My vote goes to auratum just because I like...
I appreciate all of the insightful responses.
My plan is to keep them in locked acrylic cages and build a lockable spider cabinet with ventilated shelves. I wish I could still had my critter room but I gave the room up to one of my boys.
I'm getting back into the hobby after being out for a while. I used to keep a few Poecilotheria, Pterinochilus, Haplopelma, Lampropelma, etc. I really like keeping some of those genera and would like to have some again especially Poecilotheria.
I'm having a bit of a problem deciding...
I have 6. They burrow as slings. Not a single one of mine hasn't constructed an elaborate burrow. They often prowl around at night. I mist them once weekly usually, sometimes twice. I seem to be doing okay with them cause they are kicking molts out the burrow for me and eating well...
I had some of my slings that came in the 15 dram Thornton vials. I hate that size. The base is so small and they are so high that it doesn't take much to send one flying.. I have done it several times, fortunately I haven't injured any of the slings. They were just really upset that I...
Yeah I understand. I wasn't judging just telling you about myself. I am extremely attached to my bugs. You should how upset I get when one loses a leg. LOL. The defanging, there is absolutely no way I could do that but I understand you protecting your females.
Absolutely stunning.
Here is a very crappy picture of my "Cuddles". I really love some of the pictures you guys have taken. I cannot wait to get my D80 for christmas so I can start tooling around with better photography.
Haplopelma lividum
Thank you very much. I don't keep pueblans and hondurans any longer actually. Those pictures are about 3 years old. I find them to be extremely squirrely and will fling musk at the slightest touch. Most other snakes seem to outgrow this as they get out of the flighty hatchling stage but in...
