The tank is 30x30x30 (CM).
The Scorplings are 2nd Instar.
& I would have thought that chilling the scorp would help with the stress levels as well it would be chilled so to speak, there fore relaxed because it was comatose.
The substrate is a Vermiculite layer above the gravel with a mesh...
Although I am very dilligent about removing dead cricket parts, as most of us know if your Scorps burrow there is little you can do to get the parts underground in their hidey holes.
My Adult Female Emperor has about 13 or so Scorplings in her tank with her and has a large underground burrow...
Till they have finished making a hidey hole and then they vanish that is. ;)
Emps tend to vanish once they have a nice home and become rare sights, but that means they are happy apparently. ;)
I think I must have the worlds horniest or most annoying male cricket in my Emp colony enclosure as I type this and it is doing it's level best to rub itself on fire witht he amount of friction it must be generating.
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH!
I think it's a little bit of A and a little bit of B, more A than B though.
The false bottom set up will help with humidity as the heat inside the enclosure will eventually start evaporating the water in the bottom which will rise and go through the substrate replenishing either all of what...
Overhead shot of main colony mining project system.
Front view of Mine shaft entrance with Emperor Scorpion on guard duty.
I had to take these by red light as my scorps were hanging out at the cave entrances so didn't want to freak them out with the big overhead white light. I will grab a...
I got a medium sized bit of slate and 2 moderate sized stones and constructed a "mine" entrance into the gradient of the substrate. My Emps used this as a starting point for a massive earthworking excavation and now have a pretty hefty sized tunnel system witht he safety and shelter still of...
In it's natural rain forest habitat it could easily be 100% humidity most of the time so unless it's tank is water logged I can't see it being an issue.
Emps like and need high humidity to thrive.
Actually I don't agree. Then again I use the plastic screen mesh myself and it is to help keep the substrate from falling into the pea gravel.
& eventually a substrate change may be required which it can most definately help with. It doesn't cost much and does not take long but it can sure...
Depends on the size of the enclosure, but if you are talking about the 10 gallon one you mentioned, as it says, one adult is the guideline, the bigger the tank you have the more Scorps you can put it in.
