Hey guys, it's been a while!
I was a member of this forum over a year ago, some of you guys may have seen my around as I run Immortalis Arachnids in Las Vegas. I took a very, very, very long hiatus and am finally getting back into the hobby. I thought a "re introduction" should be in order...
There's been no progress made with the cocoon since yesterday, she's just laying inside it. It's not any thicker than yesterday, either. I'm just confused lol.
I have a female avic that I paired a little over a month ago.
Shortly after, she began showing signs of being gravid. Massive size increase, fasting, the whole shabang.
Yesterday, I walked in to see her inside a cocoon of some sorts. I know that they build these enclosures when they're...
I haven't seen anyone else talk about this at all, but I'm curious.
A lot of people gut load their feeders before presenting it to the tarantula. The tarantula then ingests everything inside the cricket. If it's safe for them to consume the gut load in this manner with it being inside the...
So I have a MM G. Rosea that I was using for a breeder loan with a local friend. She had him for about a month and I offered to help her with her (possibly) gravid females since she had so many. When I saw my male I noticed that he was very thin and she said that she hadn't been able to get him...
I think people need better things to worry about honestly. I think we should promote education rather than intimidating and making the hobby inaccessible. Keepers already frighten off new commers by making them feel stupid for daring to ask a question or harassing or bashing them. If people...
A number of factors could interfere with feeding habits. Factors such as stress, correct husbandry, molt cycle, and age.
But, yes, all Ts are individuals and some have a more voracious appetite than others regardless of species. I would re-evaluate all of these aspects to come up with an...
Nothing like that at all. I don't practice the hobby for the "hard core" factor. I was just curious as to the general opinions since I always hear really insane things about T venom potency, most of which I don't believe. This actually started because someone told me that my Phlogius Crassipes...
So, I know that the "toxicity" of a tarantula is determined by a number of different things as well as the individual reaction of the person being tagged. I also know that there are no reported deaths from a T bite.
That aside, what species of T in your opinion has the highest toxicity or...
Oh yeah, guess what happened to me? Here in Vegas, the Petcos have all been getting in H. Lividums. Recently, too. I was shocked when I saw that, too as I had never seen more than an A. Avic or G. Rosea/Porteri there (with the exception of one time I found a Blondi in the petco back in GA)...
UPDATE #2:
He's still doing much better! He's finally starting to get a tad of meat on his tail and he's much more responsive. He still is not eating on his own, but at least he's swallowing what I give him now! I'll get some updated pics soon!
Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions so far!
So the MF E. Murinus I recently acquired was not in good shape when I got her. Her abdomen was very misshapen and flat and ALL of her hairs were gone to the point where you could almost see through her abdomen.
Worried, I put her in an ICU and began to hydrate her. After a few days, she...
