    What Avicularia is this one?

What did they label it at the pet store? It could any number of Avics because most of them have markings similiar to this when young. But at 2 to 3 inches they should be getting their juvie colors. Why do you think it's an amazonica?

US Postal Office lost a F.M. P. Metallica

Sorry to hear that. Usually if they lose a package it'll take them a day or two to reroute it. But 5 days that's a very long time and without even the rerouting info. But like others said since it's an adult it's got a good chance to survive if the box is intact and the weather being so nice...

    Sling Shipping Deaths...

I guess not spraying is OK if shipping only takes a day or two. But at extreme temps I wouldn't chance it. I always spray especially when I need to use a heat pack.

Avicularia sling markings -- pattern questions

Don't worry as with almost all Avics they go through a wide range of color changes as they grow. Minatrix being the only one I kept that keeps it's colors and stripes. Purpurea are black/grey as spiderlings and black/tan as juv. and finally purple. Your friend's purpurea is at the juv stage and...

    inquiry on "Justyn"

Paypal is garbage if you ever run into an issue. They only guarantee payments in eBay transactions. I had an issue with them 2 years ago on this board and never saw a cent. Unless they have changed their practices I would go with credit card. I only use them out of convenience and for people I...

    I have a bad feeling...

I was like you. Kept tarantulas and spiders for years but deathly afraid of roaches. Childhood trauma blah blah blah. Anyway I got started with hissers which are slower and more like beetles than roaches. Then moved on to dubia which I'm keeping now. The winged males still freak me out a little...

    Need an arboreal cage

I don't think he does custom cages anymore. At least not when I emailed him a few months ago.

    Would you Trade?

Why is it harder to get females of miranda than tigrinawesseli? I actually couldn't find any females of miranda in the For Sale section to compare prices. Are tigrinawesseli easier to import? Steven

New York Reptile Show, White Plains - Nov 25

I was only able to stop by for a short while and was kinda late. But it was a kool reptile show. Not much in the tarantula department, only one table had some. Maybe two others had one or two rosea and avic avic. Saw a lot of really nice snakes, crested geckos and chameleons. The panthers from...

    P. miranda Male or Female?

I kinda make out the spermatheca. If it is there, it's much smaller than I thought for a 3" spider.

    P. miranda Male or Female?

Maybe it's wishful thinking but it looks female to me. It's epigastric furrow is different than the 2 males I have. It chewed up the molt pretty good though.

    sexing by microscope

Hi, I'm looking for a stereo microscope. What type of magnification power will I need for sexing spiders? 10x, 20x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 60x? I'm thinking the 10x - 40x should be good enough. I brought a compound one and it is very difficult to use for sexing molts. Thanks

    It All Makes Sense Now

They really are one of the most colorful tarantulas. Another plus is no kicking hairs. The ones I kept were super aggressive. I actually had one chase me up a pair of tweezers I used to remove some left-over food bits. So easily provoked but some on here have said their OBT are like rosea. So it...
