It is probably 50/50, but some species of spiders actually favor females over males in a large way(3:1 ratio). It's a coin toss man, either way it will be an impressive spider.
Didn't know G. pulchripes could get to 6" in only 2 years. Any chance it's wild caught? Did you get it from a pet store or a breeder or somewhere else?
Yes I am positive of the age and ID, I literally drove to SSW since it's just across town about 3 1/2 years ago to get myself a christmas present. You can see some of the color showing on the legs.
I guess I'm in the same boat as fartkowski as far as temps are concerned, feedings may have...
It's molted about once a year.
During the past 4 years I've been in a college dorm and it's been about 70-75 degrees and feedings(meal worms since crickets are annoying and don't last long) were infrequent. It also often refused to eat so I'd have to take out the prekilled prey so it wouldn't...
I've had this B. boehmi sling for a little over 3 years. It was 1/4" when it got her and this is her today
am I doing something wrong such as not feeding enough or to low of temperatures? Or is this just how slowly they grow?
robc you're being silly, by owning another animal and agreeing to take care of all of it's needs that is taking it's fate into your hands, regardless
Don't give up just yet! Isolate her and watch her closely would be my vote.
Okay Rob, I'm guessing you came here from /an/ after me and spiderman were saying get a new T... but here feeding off things like mice is not considered good etique for what you are looking for in a T, if that's what you really want get a snake or phrase it as you want a large T that isn't...

Ummm....get one of your T's to take down fido
or better yet

If she tried anything like killing them, you can get animal rights involved, property damage, or just sell her yapper to a kid...
I had one from .5"~ till maturity the other day and I wouldn't say that it was the hard to raise. It might just be people making a bigger deal out of it, some animals just die and avics seem to be prone to it for some reason:( Then again I live in a place where the humidity is consistently 75%
The rents said they think spiders are just a phase, mind you I'm 18 and I don't think an interest in spiders is any more a phase than my major...
but alas, I don't have the spare money to get any new spiders this christmas :(
it's not immoral if you think your governments rules are wrong or corrupt, the power of the government comes from what the people give it...but no, I wouldn't do it if I were you or her
Now Now:shame: :shame: , we can't rule out these foreign spiders being possible terrorists :wall:
I occasionally get the white powder on my hides, It never bothered me too much I would just take it out and wash it off...sure ti comes back, but it's louisiana and mold grows on everything...
