    Chealean Rose Problem

Make sure your screen top is NOT WOVEN. The small claws on the bottom of the T's feet can get stuck in it. I've had one of my T's hanging by one leg from one before. Mark

All very good choices. My only caution is that the OBT is probably the most aggressive/psycho tarantula you can get just be very careful, especially if your daughter is young. It's also old-world, and has much more potent venom than a NW tarantula because its only defense is it's bite - it has...

If its in its habitat and you intrude or annoy it, it will likely bite you. Outside of their homes, like any tarantula, they become very calm because their in unfamiliar territory. Also, every individual is different and every species has been handled at one time or another, Usambaras...

    Is this a good setup?

The reason your heat pad should be one the outside of the tank and on one side is because in the wild, the deeper in the soil you go the colder. Tarantulas burrow to esacpe heat - if the heat is comming from the bottom, the T will keep digging and digging because it keeps getting hotter and may...

    Chealean Rose Problem

That happened to my N.carapoensis and I let nature do it's thing. Most of it wore off and it was 100% gone after it's next molt. I wouldn't worry about it, or you can try get it off - either way it shouldn't hurt your T. Mark

Please tell she didn't just die!!!!!!!

Tarantulas die right side up with their legs curled up under them, then their abdomens shrivel. I can't see it so I can't say for sure, but doesn't sound good. Sorry bud. Mark

    Scratching myself RAW...

Scratching makes it 10X worse, the way the barbs are designed its like fiberglass insulation on your skin. Mark

GBB's are not for petting :) They are semi - arboreal, very colorful, lots of webbing and reasonably aggressive in general. If you buy a G.pulchra, your daughter could pet it all day and it wouldnt care. I have one and it LITERALLY does not care about ANYTHING. I haven't tried but I bet i...

    Are mites indestructable?

Mites can live off of cricket/prey item remains also. Mark

    Pre-killed crickets?

I think people do it so that the cricket cannot under any circumstances hurt the tarantula, and also so it can offer the tarantula larger food than it would normall take alive. Mark

Most Avic's are the same to take care of and 90% of their deaths are from ventilation probpems - they are super sensitive to stagnant air. There is no arboreal easier to take care of than an Avic. If you were open to terrestrial species your options get huge and anyone here could probably name...

    Wild-caught food

I would never use wild caught food, because even if the animal has never come into contact with a pesticide or whatever, something it ate may have and the cycle continues with small animals building up a tolerance to poisons. IMO just a no-no, better safe than sorry. Mark

    Scratching myself RAW...

The hairs are little barbs covered in an irritating pharamone. The more you scratch, the worse it gets. Take a damp cloth and wipe down the areas you were "haired" on. Also every spider is different as far as to which defense mechanisms it chooses and how easily their activated. If i was 10"...

Ohh gotcha, sorry I didnt understand before. No that's not what I did. I'm going to try my new tank setup with huge ventilation and if that doesn't work my only option left is your idea. Mark

    Humidity Help

What kind of humidity guage are you using? I have A Hagen one and 2 Exo Terra Humidity gauges and all side by side, the Hagen reads 40%, Exoterra #1 reads 50% and Exoterra #2 reads around 60%. They cost around $10 or so. I wouldn't trust a humidity guage like this in the first place. Also I...

    Tips for Controlling Mould?

I did exactly that last time :) The spores could also be on her shed skin and that will still be in the new aquarium so there isn't much I can do. I'm almost sure its the conditions harboring it, regardless of if the spores are present or not. She is almost good to go and I will be moving...
