Thats actually nonsense. Growth rates vary wildly due to conditions and even individual variance....no one can ever say it will take X amount of time for any t to mature, much less reach max size.
absolutely no concern....slower growers tend to live a little longer in the end.
Totally agree
This is precisely what makes it inappropriate for this t.
of course they did...cha ching...its an overly expensive enclosure.... probably the most expensive thing in the store they could have sold you....it was recommended for one reason...profit....they make way more selling...
Leg issues arent actual issues....they self amputate any issues...they dont bleed to death from leg injuries either as they have a valve at the base of each leg that closes off to prevent bleeding to death.....ts do not need all their legs or palps to hunt and survive just fine.
Congrats on the...
Yep, they are very active....they just dont climb like crickets will.....theyre probably the one feeder that actually gets close to a cricket with regards to feeding response....no doubt theyre a good feeder.
I know you didnt say this...I did not say you said this...I brought it up to make a point.
its not that they are better, its not that either are "better"...both are equals....feeders.....crickets tend to be great for avic types simply because they tend to be most active and get the best feeding response.....but you could feed them mealworms if you could get them to eat them and feed...
When the laeta webs, it will be easier to feed many items...and they do web a lot. But until then, a cricket will generally get the best response...but if you can get it to eat other things, everything is on the table.
Be aware, as these guys grow they get EXCEEDINGLY defensive...they are...
I dont think there really is a baseline for feeding or dealing with this in general....while its happened and people have nursed ts through, its still an extremely rare occurrance that most of us will never see...anyone like you, even though youre not the first, is still a poineer whos info...
This enclosure is arboreal...GBB is a terrestrial....I would avoid such a tall encloure....you can get away with a taller enclosure than other terrestrials simply because they web so much they essentially raise the floor...but you dont want to overdo the height thing.
Yeah, and that's baffling...
developing bald spots is in no way shape or form an indicator of anything other than that the t flicked hairs. The shininess of the skin and the stretched out appearance you see in heavy pre molt is evident whether or not there is a bald spot...and the color of the t wont make a difference...
Thats just not true
well this should only be done as a last resort.
of course
no, it wouldnt make any sense
well you only do this if it gets stuck in the process...in which case getting her free is an exhaustive, time consuming and pain staking process...almost no one would be expected to be...
A bit large, but its not gonna kill it....but keep in mind, the larger the enclosure, the more likely your sling is to burrow away...and when they do this you cant monitor them, they feed less often and as a result, grow much slower.
Pill bottles work, but they encourage burrowing...although...
Stop doing this...there is no good reason do mist a pulchra...doing so on a schedule is a bad habit with any t...never mist or add water on a schedule, this should only be done on an as needed basis...and theres never a need with a pulchra.
Ridiculous for this to be suggested. Springtails...
