Ahh,I remember the Brachy set mind massage. Also known as the Pokemon theory, gotta have them all. There were a lot of similarities in the red rumps and red legs. Their behaviors also paralleled each other too.
This is probably why I find Schroederi interesting
They are more active and they go...
Feisty as juveniles and mature males. Females are a little more laid back . Less likely to kick hairs compared to the other mainstream Brachys, emelia, smithi,Hamori etc.
Brachys, Poecs,Nhandus,Gbbs,Lampropelma,Lasiodora,
Pamphos,Aphonopelma,Theraphosa
,Grammostola and a few others. I enjoyed them but came to a place where 1 became all I wanted to work with and breed.
Excellent point Arachno. I considered some of the recent developments in the hobby when I thought of this topic. I know some collectors are motivated by the "complete set" idea.
I'm sure some collections and their owners goals are being modified by some of the regulatory changes.
Cool choices. Have had several from each. Loved Platyomma . They varied a little in personality. Some of the recent Phormict's are definitely interesting.
There are several Blaberus species legal in Florida.Discoidalis,Cranifer and A tripod. I think Fusca too. Do a little searching online and you will see you've got options.
Darn auto correct, that's "Atropos" not tripod.
This looks similar to other ESA species like the Eastern Indigo, it's a permit process,of course that means revenue to the applicable government agency. I'm hoping it follows suit, and isn't the demise of the species in the hobby.
I truly hope so. CITES listing would be better, but who know...
B.Schroederi for me. I only keep one species of T now and this is it . They go through a nice color change as they reach adulthood, so it is like having 2 different Ts. The adult coloration is stunning with a green metallic carapace and black everywhere else .
The juveniles to sub adults...
Brachypelma Schroederi. Nothing like a metallic green carapace after a fresh molt that becomes a stunning black T . Very seldom does it kick hairs . Very mellow temperament. These are all attibutes once they reach adulthood .
From sling to sub adult nice golden carapace,a little...
Beautiful T's they are . I would be partial though . I only keep this species . They are pretty calm ,not one to kick hairs .
Something about that black coloration and decent size make them very desirable . The subtle green sheen also makes for a nice contrast .
Hope to have more in the next...
Jose or Ap81 can comment on the above quote on whether B.Schroederi have any red hairs ? May be something seen right after a fresh molt possibly, then fades?
Update , lighter carapace female's has molted and has taken on what I believe is her beautiful adult coloration ,velvety black abdomen with a few red setae and dark carapace with a slight metallic green hue.
She used to be a coppery brown T. I have yet to access the most, waiting for her to...
