I agree with catfishrod here. You stated that you did not want something that would need a lot of room...well a musk turtle is going to need less room than a full grown beardie. Furthermore, beardies grow fast. It's not like you can get a little baby and expect it to be in the same size tank...

With some predatory fish, they will even refuse frozen foods. I've kept a different species of leaf fish and some would refuse anything but live. Luckily, I now keep a Malaysian gudgeon that will eat anything under the sun despite what care sheets and books have told me haha!
