Anyone good with ID of Scutigeromorpha?

Hello. I photographed this individual in the Runakanda rainforest in Sri Lanka. According to most catalogs I found, there are two possible species (Scutigerina weberi and Thereuopodina tenuicornis) and another person found one catalog that listed a third (Thereuopoda longicornis). I was told...

    Amblypygi ID help

Thank you Banshee! Sorry for the late response. Both of these were of the same size and quite large but I didn't want to assume since I'm not experienced in field ID of amblypygids. I appreciate the help!

    Amblypygi ID help

Hi everyone. I took these pictures in Sri Lanka of two individual amblypygid. I'm not sure how to ID them since I can't get ahold of any of the papers or pictures of either of the species I know to be in SL. From what I can find, there appears to only be two or three species, Phrynichus...

    Heterometrus ID help

This scorpion was found in Sri Lanka. Species there are gravimanus, indus, and swammerdami. I'm using a key but my pictures aren't very suitable for identification purposes. This scorpion didn't look like it had any true carinae on the anterolateral side of the chela so I didn't think it was...

    Oh dear more crayfish

I'll have pics soon, skullking. :P Unfortunately there seems to have been a mass die off in the breeder tank :( Not sure why. There's probably only a hand full of babies left alive that we can see. They seemed to just roll less than a day after kicking off. The adult is fine, however. I...

    Oh dear more crayfish

Well, after my beautiful P. clarkii died, we went out and got a couple more crayfish. I hadn't been intending to do so but the LPS received three crayfish that arrived under the name of Assorted Lobster. :sarcasm: So, not sure of the species (though I'm pretty sure they are Procambarus sp.), I...

regarding venomous laws in other states

Hey guys. The time has come for me to continue on towards my Phd. When I start apply for grad school, I also need to take into consideration of local laws concerning venomous snakes for when/if I need to move out of Texas. So this question is for those living in other states. I've already...

    Cat or hedgehog

And then you should look up Formerphobe's post about "free" cats above haha. Mine was a stray but I got lucky because we have a vet in town that specialized in low cost veterinary work for low income family. Being a college student makes me low income. You can get around higher cost vet bills...

    first venomous snake

Don't feel bad about that cobra. I did the same thing with Agkistrodon piscivorous complete with tossing it in the stream as well. I made the mistake of not looking before I tailed and I ended up with a very angry female. The only reason I have those as my firsts are because I've been working...

At emergency vet until 3am because of PROMERIS

Sure are. It's an active ingredient in a lot of dips, flea collars, and topical flea and tick applications. Usually toxicity of Amitraz happens because of ingestion such as an animal eating its flea collar. My ACD experienced the reaction through purely dermal exposure.

    Carphophis amoenus care

I know little about them but from what I understand is they need a hot spot of 78-80 F and earthworms as their main diet. From what I've heard though is that they tend to stop feeding in captivity after a while.

At emergency vet until 3am because of PROMERIS

Thanks to both of you. It's been nearly 12 hours since the first antisedan dose should have worn off and so far so good. She's acting normally and has had no further head tremors. Edit: She's had no reaction to Capstar or Frontline which is why it surprised me when the reaction was so strong...

At emergency vet until 3am because of PROMERIS

I had to rush my dog to the vet last night. One of my vets sold me Promeris flea and tick control which I applied and 24 hours later my dog started acting strange. We were going to bed and she started having head tremors. I've had dogs with epilepsy before but this looked more like an...

Well if you have room and the funds to take care of a beardie, go for it. :)

    first venomous snake

Haha I'm just saying I'm tired of animal rights groups and their cherry-picked science being able to infiltrate mainstream media as well as legislation. I am a part of organizations working to change things. ;) Don't tempt me. I might take you up on that fried tarantula offer. I have B...

    Snake breeding question

What kaitala said is pretty much applicable to any North American snake that brumates and is what I do with my own king regardless if he's going to breed.

    Tortoise/Turtle for a beginner.

I agree with catfishrod here. You stated that you did not want something that would need a lot of room...well a musk turtle is going to need less room than a full grown beardie. Furthermore, beardies grow fast. It's not like you can get a little baby and expect it to be in the same size tank...

    new fish!

With some predatory fish, they will even refuse frozen foods. I've kept a different species of leaf fish and some would refuse anything but live. Luckily, I now keep a Malaysian gudgeon that will eat anything under the sun despite what care sheets and books have told me haha!
