the only "infestation" type problems ive heard about with dermestid beetles is if you have any taxidermy in the house, the individuals i know that use them for cleaning skulls and such keep them in a shed or garage in a seperate building from their workshops and homes.....escapees will destroy...
he knows its a shot in the dark, especially this time of year....believe he has stated he is checking out the research end(he is in the research field though on bacteria, not bugs) and may have found one source, but it was a big maybe when i talked to him last yesterday morning......
he registered today but apparently didnt get confirmed before he left work and wont be able to post until he gets back on Monday.....so ill post it for him to give this a two day start....
he is raising Gastrotheca, Anotheca and Ecnomiohyla frogs, they are eating alot of crickets which are...
these lil spiders fascinate me.....anyone have a ball park figure on how many species might be present in Montana? im sure ive seen near a dozen different ones......had a "pet" one for one summer.....i had noticed him about June patrolling the walls of our bedroom, had to be near 1/3 of an inch...
for those of you who dislike hunting should REALLY take a very close look at who is doing the most to conserve lands and help out animals such as the rhino's and elephants( which are not endangered) and se just where the vast majority of the funds to protect these animals comes from. one of the...
made the long trip to Florida last week to do the Disney stuff with the kids.....didnt get to do much exploring but found a few critters including this 6 or 7 inch long critter. would have liked to get more pics but my camera battery died after these pics and i lost him under a log while...
no oak leaves here.............mine feed on magnolia leaves a friend in Georgia collects for me for dart frog tanks. originally put a few in the isopod tanks as "hides" that would make collecting them to feed critters easier.......turns out they love to eat the leaves. they dont seem to be...
hybrid Cattleya and Oncidiums work well as they can stand it a bit dryer than some of the others. start with cheap ones you find at Home Depot or such. the Phal's dont work as well cause they dont like it that dry
only issue is i dont have any critters big enough to eat the adults..........guess i get to go shopping for a new pet in the spring :D going to let them do their thing for the next 3 months
ive got prolly over 200 discoids and dubias now.......................cant belive that there is no smell after spending 2 days in shipping couped up in that box.........ive had a dozen cricket make MUCH more odor in under 12 hours......these things are sweet!
only issue, they like to go...
shouldnt harm inverts at all though prolly should be rinced well before use incase the inverts are sensitive to salt because some of this is harvested right up to coasts
here is what i use for dart frogs which are prolly ALOT more sensitive than inverts.
grape wood(dried grape vines, usually found at pet stores after its been sand blasted)
bog wood(this is the really dense stuff often used in aquariums)
ghost wood(only ever found it availible through one...

here it is................before i get it in a bigger tank is there and easy way to tell the sexes apart with these? also does it appear to be adult sized to you guys?
other than a one cricket meal a day before shipping its as caught
actually if you are aware they are there, they pose lil danger. the problem is when they feel they are being crushed you get bit. if they can move freely they arent going to bite you.
