I don't believe in total bans but I do agree that not everyone should get to buy somethings.
What we are now aiming for would be a system that bans nothing but sets restrictions for some animals.
This whole thing is not just an arachnid hunt, all venomous animals and...
Crhris is just now in Finland. But it's the EU's national list that is making a point of species "dangerous for humans"(No they are not banning cows or horses)
I know there is facts that say even the most bad reputed spiders are not as danderous as the urban legends say.. But I need some good...
As similar to the topic in "true spiders" we are facing a moment that a ban on "dangerous" animals.
What we need now is real proof that scorpions are not as dangerous as they're shown in the movies.
PLEASE post any real papers stating this fact.
As the topic says. I have been selected to represent spiders for a work group that is working on a possible ban on venomous/dangerous inverts.
I know what to write but given a short timespan I'd like your help.
Any and all scientific studies regarding the actual danger certain species/families...
Nephila spp. are so awesome! I wish we had spiders like that in Finland. The largest we have is Dolomedes plantarius maxing at about 2". Though we do have some pretty ones. Here's a Enoplognatha ovata for our former houses back yard.
They made a postive list for mammals in Belgium not long ago(postive list is a list of species you can keep, others being banned).
They made the list with criteria *“Easy to keep and capable of being given shelter with respect for fundamental physiologicl, ethological and ecological needs.”*...
I'd also pay attention to their diet. From what I've read on older threads here on AB, offspring from huge WC parents won't reach the same size(It was Stefan and someone else talking about rising a Ancylometes sp. I think) but stay significantly smaller. It's most likely to do with the very...
I wonder how many times they've been bitten. Also, a biologist getting bit in the jungles of Thailand won't get Ts banned in the hobby, an idiot in *insert european/us city* might.
I don't personally care if some idiot vomits and cries for mama for a day(or even dies). It's what it can do to...
This is something I try to tell people. If they'd just listen. Not long ago a keeper here took her second T after having a really docile rosea for about six months. "It's so pretty gotta have one" and she bought a AF Haplopelma lividum.
People tend to lack patience and want...
