My Brachypelma auratum is finally in pre-molt! After 7 long months of waiting, during wich time i think every other tarantula under my care has molted at least once, some even several times, he finally decided now it's his time. He has been very fat lately. Refused it's last meal and has now...
they are an excellent choice! Very gentle and inquisitive, totally relaxed. Very cool looking too! Though mine is still in it's "i'm really dark grey but i want so hard to be black" fase.
Rather busy week molt wise. C. elegans molted... again! She has almost tripled in size in a 3-4 month period it's crazy! A. genicullata also doubled in size after it's last molt. H. incei finally molted after it's big dinner beeing it's brother or sister :/
On of the C. perezmilessi's also...
When i read threads like these i'm always a tad bit jealous! Lots of you are American and u are so lucky to have native tarantula species! We haven't got any at all here :( i wish i could walk out into my garden and find a T sitting on a tree. That would so make my day! Helas i'll have to be...
Jup same here! Not so much with the babies though! With them it's ussualy one minute they are just sitting there the next there out of the old skin and walking about like nothing else has happend. The bigger ones however! Nervewrecking every time!
Me too lol.
On topic: i have no experience with obt's so can't be of much assistance. I do have a GBB with serious arboreal tendencies. Has his nest way up against the lid of the KK.
Same thing here in mainland europe. U never ever see them at ur basic pet shop. Over here we just have two kinds of shops. Ur regular pet shop selling guinnea pigs, hamsters and the likes and offcourse the usual dog food etc.. Then u have specialized reptile shops usually run by people that...
I think that could work yeah. It's different but different is always good in my book! I once wanted to huy this really funny looking hamster hut, an actual house with windows and stuff, thought it could be a rather amusing hide. Haven't done it because i couldn't find what wood the hut was made...
Feared as much. Gonna be sad though watching him go :( but i'm glad he got just that little bit more time. Especially for my daughter she adores this one.
I will update on his progress and his passing. right now he's fine, chilling :)
That doesn't look too comfortable :/ I would just replace the dish with something much lighter if i where you and get that big heavy thing out. (at least it looks heavy, is it like glazed terracotta?) A bottle cap works well for me. come in various sizes. Only my adult, non diggers get heavy bowls.
Tried for some photo's, not my best shots but i couldn't get anything clearer then this. This Flower now, as u can see, legs, legs and yes more legs! Very leggy indeed! U might be able to see they are thinner then usual. Nicely shaped though, just his right back leg looks a bit worse for wear...
Right now my G. rosea is the most difficult one to work around. She has attitude problems! I need both hands to do just about anything in her enclosure. One to divert her and one to do my business. She is always 'guarding' her water dish, sits right on top of it and bares her fangs the second u...
