    Back By Popular Demand ArachnoChat

Hey people. Come to the chat, it’s the cool thing to do. Ignore what you’ve heard, because there is no one left. Start a new colony of invert lovers. Either flirt with Travis or ignore him. He leaves early. Look for me when the sun sets, (although today likely closer to 7pm Central). So don’t...

    whats your ff culture mix

Never tried to be scientific with it, I know there's lots of different recipes out there. But I'm not exactly raising dart frogs with them. So I just use mashed potato flakes and yeast. Don't try to keep the cultures too long though, its a losing battle. Just make new ones. -Sean

    Who has been bitten

I feel a hobbyist having been bitten should just count as being bitten regardless of what he/she was doing at the time. At least if you want a realistic picture of what the hobby looks like. Because a great number of hobbyists will handle their pets, so you can't just not count them. Now if...

    Selectively breeding for color ?

:worship:Great post, very informative.:worship: So to press on with your logic, the biggest issue I see here is time. If we thought a specific color hue or brightness could be raised/lowered on a certain spider, the time it would take to select the two adults, (assume they were of the same...

Thoughts on why my L. violaceopes sling isn't burrowing?

Often times I've noticed a sling will lay down a lot of webbing after it gets its first meal. So once its acclimated a little bit more and you get the moisture right, try a pinhead cricket and see what she does after that. -Sean

    New and IMPROVED IRC Channel

It was, a very long time ago. Members that have been in over a decade have very few arachnid topics remaining to discuss, if any. The topic of IRC channels don't have to be the only reason for a group to stick around. Its usually just a common interest that brought them together in the first...

Newbie waiting on her first Ts in the mail!

Can't say I'm surprised with the level of intensity this thread has reached. I think people need to understand we can't change people's minds on this. If you set your mind to getting one, you're going to get it. All we can do now is prepare you for the experience as best we can. Screaming...

    New and IMPROVED IRC Channel

The new chat was a sort of rebellious departure of some individuals. The original, very long standing, and still not very arachno-themed chat is still up: irc.gamesurge.net #arachnochat. But honestly its really not talking about arachnids at all. But there are some pretty experienced keepers in...

ok so no real green tarantula...what about cold weather specimens?

There is no stopping the perpetual morphing of terminology in language... And tarantulas now mean theraphosids as much if not more than the lesser-known Lycosa. Of course you're more than welcome to try and 'correct' people, just don't expect it to change anything. -Sean
