You'll have a lot of them sharing hides and tunnels so just use good judgement. Seven inches is recommended for 1. I would say 8-9 inches you want to give them a little extra since many of them will bundle up.
For that many 40 gal minimum plenty of substrate and hides. Honestly I see the appeal of a big colony. I really do. But I'd suggest two smaller colonies to ease stress.
Agree with almost everything. They don't really need the water at substrate level. They'll drink just fine from any water container. But if you ever have enough room a little substrate level pool is cool you'll see them bathe more often
I remember when I used to worry about humidity. Nearly drenched in water substrate is too humid. Don't worry too much about what your meter says if your scorp needs more humidity it'll just burrow deeper. Cover 90% of the enclosure you DO NOT want to cover 100% as lack of ventilation is just...
bottle of frozen water above the tank provides a natural A/C . It will drip down some condensation water but it shouldn't be a problem if you put his water bowl right under there.
*Edit: a word
you got yourself a girl. You're set up is much better I would even add more substrate for burrowing but I think she'll be fine. Dont worry too much about feeding they can go a long time without food just keep offering a few bugs every couple days.
Heterometrus species for sure. Doesn't look like longimanus but it could just be because they're not mature. Get rid of the wood chips and put them on moist coco fiber or peat.
Blacklight the room and look for the culprit if it indeed is a scorp. Depeding on the species and the type of sting the pain can last a while. I got stung by a C.sculpturatus once and acute pain lasted minutes but the over all experinece (soreness and such) lasted 2 weeks.
He's in the UK guys no Buthids. But I agree with Smokehound Smeringurus are the best. The most common species is Smeringurus mesanensis you'll find these under Dune Scorpion. I prefer Smeringurus vachoni mysefl they're bigger and faster in but not as readily avialable in the hobby. But I got a...
They're Buthidae but they're very docile I would recommned this species as begginer they dont require the weird humidity that ankaranas need (still offer them some water they love it). I'm in the process of writting a caresheet.
I'll be selling a few to a select few and keeping most to myself until second generation. Only people that I know are breeders will get some from the first batch.
