I remember i prodded my B.smithi after panicking seeing it in a deathcurl sorta pose which later turned out was just grooming well i learnt my lesson she did not appreciate that one bit.
Mine did it for about a month because it was in premolt after which it opened up it's burrow again for a few days but has sealed it back up again since they just like they're privacy... she left a small hole which i put crickets in and i hear her grab them so i know she's ok.
I have both a G.pulchripes and a GBB! :).
The pulchripes is a good eater but mine is rather secretive and spends most of her time in the burrow.
My GBB just goes on a rampage whenever a cricket is dropped in she has also webbed all over the place.
Great T's!
Did he just say tarantulas have limited supply of venom that they have to save? really.
Edit: Ok i just watched the set up video he did and it made my blood boil poor G.rosea being tortured!.
Probably my GBB's insane hunger you can drop a cricket far on the other side from her and as soon as it touches the sub she goes on a rampage... get's it in seconds.
This was written months ago but i hope you are doing well and that you are out that situation.
Lord knows what i'd do if that happened to me but i know it wouldn't be pretty.
It could be that a molt is on the way but it's only at the top of the abdomen and since this is a rosea it may take a while before she actually is ready to molt, once all the abdomen turns a black then i would say that's when it's in pre molt but at this moment it's completely normal.
It's nearing the beginning of winter and the temperature has dropped dramatically from the average 22 Celsius for my household all the way down to 16 with the lowest being 14 i've recorded so far... this would be my first real winter with my T's so what can i expect and any tips would be...
I try not to handle a tarantula as much as possible... the only time i do is when the tarantula willingly walks onto my hand without prodding otherwise no i do not handle them and believe they should not be handled.
Weather or not they can be conditioned to not mind handling i do not know.
