  1. Shagg

    My house spider.

Agreed if it's under a month she'll be fine. Just give her a nice feed/mist right before you leave. I have the same problem with a spouse who fears all spiders, even small jumpers :(

    Resin casting advice

So my beloved male Audax died after a year of being my little green faced bud. Planning on encasing him in casting resin. I've had him frozen since he passed and he looks quite vibrant. Any key advice I should heed?

    odd jumping spider behaviour?

Could be the spider is just picky. I've tried feeding my jumpers these small flying black ant-like bugs that frequent flowers around here. They would fly near the jumper and it would kind of punch it away instead of pouncing and biting. After the spider noticed it several times and didn't...

    Jumper: A B or C

I initially thought it was female due to the huge abdomen- but I thought I heard from someone on the boards that heavy banding on the legs for a P. Audax means its a male. The bands on the legs of my spider are kind of faint but I'm sure its still a juvenile because its markings are red and not...

    Jumper: A B or C

Normally I do feed my salticids about once a week. Thought that mosquito wasn't much of a meal the first day I fed it. Freaked me out how much abdomen size it lost in about a week.

    Jumper: A B or C

So confused as to what my Audax has been up to. Not sure on gender either, last post someone said it may be a hybrid. Description: -black with red orange dot on top of abdomen -Audax metallic green chelicerae -Biege? Light stripes or banding on small legs -now faded, was fiery...

    Adventures in Baby Arachnids

Congrats! I like your determination! Caco your quite adept @ baby care-taking which I find difficult as a arachno-noob. I think I'll adopt your bug philosophy of not giving up till stinky or crunchy. Hope the little ones are eating well

    Audax or regius

Cotton ball or peice of sponge? Then I suppose she could drink whenever if I keep it moist.

    Audax or regius

Awesome thanks for the help. I thought she was staying in her retreat 24/7. However, I only get to check on her in the morning. Do you do the cap of water all the time? (like not when molting/laying eggs) I've heard standing water is not good but I never see my spider drink the mist

    Audax or regius

LOL that pic is epic!! Love how shes peekin out. All I can see of mine is a vague outline from 1 angle- otherwise I see nothing but silk. Well my retreat is basically two thick sheets she's kinda sandwiched between, so after seeing the shape of your female's retreat I'm leaning towards...

    Im in love...with a jumper

I also thought Audax simply because its common and I've seen them around. However, that weird "U" shape on the bottom of her abdomen thats almost orange throws me off. I have a better pic of her top markings on my profile. Thanks for that site, tons of good info/pics there. Olympus huh...

    Audax or regius

Sweet that's what I thought. How bout the retreat? Silk is a little clear but I can only see her from 1 angle, I'm kinda hoping she's just molting. Haven't really dealt with spiderlings and it's gonna get cold here soon so I think finding food for em would be hard.

    Audax or regius

Better pic of my jumper, I'm thinking Audax. Pic of her retreat also, been in there goin on 3 days Eggs or molting ?

Is my female jumping spider molting or laying eggs

opaque silk=brooding huh? can the shape/size of a retreat tell anything? My jumper has spent a few days building a pretty large tube-like one and it's getting really hard to see her in it

    Im in love...with a jumper

Took those with my phone so I know there kinda bad, got a few better ones now. Can you attach an image to a reply or do you have to embed it? Excited she spent the last day making a huge tent so I'm hoping shes planning on laying eggs.

    Im in love...with a jumper

Found her around noon on my kitchen window. Phidippus I imagine? She has more orange and brown versus the norm white/black Phidippus-types I've seen here, but she has the classic metallic green chelicerae. super happy I finally found a sizable salticid that cant wiggle out of my...

    Lycosa Tarantula

Nice setup, and a very pretty spider! I'm sure she is quite comfortable in there. I was unaware that they would feed on fruit, although I've heard of some nectar-feeding spiders (of course I'm no expert...yet haha)
