    2 inch Aphonopelma hentzi (unconfirmed)

I tried looking it up but couldn't find many pictures of backlit exuviae for sexing smaller Ts. Would males have this as well or is this a clear indicator that it's female? Second image here: http://i.imgur.com/QMN3rJB.jpg

    Please help identify !

Tarantula eggs look nothing like that, if that's what you're thinking. And they wouldn't be laying out on their own, they'd be in a sac.

    Burrowing

    Haha, I didn't notice!

    Burrowing

*She :P But yeah, they're opportunistic burrowers. As long as they have something to start off with, they'll take to making a home out of that.

    Burrowing

    A. hentzi will burrow, but they are definitely not pet holes (fossorial). Mine are out of their burrows just about as often as they are in them.

My A. hentzi (unconfirmed) has been leaving her egg sac to climb the terrarium walls?

Okay, just checked again and she is now with the sac as usual. I'm glad, this gives me a bit more time to learn about incubation. I'm thinking I might pull it sooner than I'd planned anyway, since from the videos I've watched just now (mostly Robc's), it just seems better for the eggs in the...

My A. hentzi (unconfirmed) has been leaving her egg sac to climb the terrarium walls?

Thanks for the reply. It has been rainy here the last two days (and will be for the rest of the week). I guess it just didn't occur to me that a T might be affected by outside weather even if they're indoors. I just checked on her again and she's now in the burrow at the entrance, but still not...

My A. hentzi (unconfirmed) has been leaving her egg sac to climb the terrarium walls?

My T laid an egg sac on June 16 and for the past 4 weeks, she's been doing very well. But yesterday when I went to check on her, I noticed she was climbing the walls of the cage! I didn't know what to do other than keep an eye on her and when I went to check on her again about 1.5 hours later...

    The term "Ultimate molt"

Ohh, okay. I'm the person who originally made that comment in the other thread. I get what you're saying though. I was under the impression that the ultimate molt simply referred to the last molt because that's what I've read on here and other sites, but as you said it seems to be a common...

Pretty sure my RCF G. rosea just laid an eggsack

If she hasn't molted, then it's a definite possibility that the eggs are fertilized. I recommend looking at my thread here: http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?250214-Need-help!-New-to-tarantulas-and-my-Aphonopelma-has-unexpectedly-laid-eggs!&p=2179950#post2179950 When they hatch...

NEW SPECIES: Avicularia rickwesti BERTANI & HUFF, 2013

The footnote on Figure 13 says "early antepenultimate immature". Shouldn't that be a male?

She should be fine. I'm quite interested in that water dish though.

Distinguishing between ultimate molt and normal molt

In case anyone else sees this and has the same question: It's worth noting not all species have tibial hooks. Here's a list of those species: http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?145454-Quick-Reference-guide-to-answer-common-questions&p=1335709&viewfull=1#post1335709

Pretty sure my RCF G. rosea just laid an eggsack

Surprised no one has asked this yet. Since you've had her, has she molted? That's really what's important. Tarantulas can hold sperm for any length of time, but any sperm is expelled with the exuvium when molting. Fertilization takes place when she lays the eggs, not internally. So if she has...

Need help! New to tarantulas and my Aphonopelma has unexpectedly laid eggs!

Hey! I somehow only just now saw this. As for an update -- Rosalind's doing fine, still tending to the egg sac every time I check in on her :) I plan on pulling the sac at 60 days, so there won't be much going on until then. I'll definitely post here and on Reddit about what I find in the sac...

Need help! New to tarantulas and my Aphonopelma has unexpectedly laid eggs!

Oh, wow, I feel really silly now. I was only looking in the 'Tarantula' subforum. Didn't realize there was a 'Reports' subforum. Thanks!

Need help! New to tarantulas and my Aphonopelma has unexpectedly laid eggs!

Thought I'd update anyone who's keeping an eye on this thread. I've since gotten a thermometer/humidity meter and lamp set up for her (not too strong and not pointed directly on the cage, it just serves to keep the temp a little bit higher than room temp). The temp right now is perfect and it...

Flies and new substrate- Quick question

I'm new here, but as far as substrate I was reading this thread last night and, while certain types may need specific substrates, as far as peat vs. coco fiber, it really just seems to be a matter of preference. I did notice that a lot of people who preferred coco fiber seemed to switch from...

Need help! New to tarantulas and my Aphonopelma has unexpectedly laid eggs!

I'm still pretty new to this site and am having some trouble finding the breeding reports section you're referring to. Would anyone have a link? ---------- Post added 06-20-2013 at 09:36 PM ---------- Wow, crazy! I knew slings were typically very light in color, but I guess I just assumed A...
