I ordered T's online for the first time from you and was so impressed with your service and the outstanding slings I got. Happy to see thing are starting to come together-the new place looks great.
Thanks everyone! I was just concerned because he literally never goes down and any crickets I put in just die-this is one of my first Avics so I wasn't sure what to do/expect. (and I would also love a picture of the above mentioned glass cube!!)

I transferred my A. purpurea sling a while back and it webbed up the top part of its new enclosure so when I take the lid off I basically take the T and its web with it. Its not attached so no damage to the web takes place, and once I've managed to drop a cricket onto the web, but the other two...
Note: I know it's not something one should go about doing (if it could ever even work) and I am not delving into moral or scientific objections behind it. This pure curiosity :)
So, if you could cross breed any species what would they be and why? After reading the T Keepers Guide I keep...
Thank you for such a great answer! And no, it certainly doesn't sound like fun no matter what species you are. It's funny you mentioned the weight because my dog weighs about the same as I do-I wonder who would fare better, me or the dog?
I have 2 boxer dogs and I foster rescues as well. Of course my T's are kept safe and in such a way that the dogs can't get to them, but I was thinking...if worst came to worst and a Pokie or another T with a medically significant bite escaped, or the dog knocks its enclosure down or something...
I went through the same thing recently-I was bummed out when it didnt work. Shopping cart was broken or something? When I got on the website and saw the message, I sent an email but never heard back. I got one from tarantulahomes.com but then they started to slow down too. I just ordered some...
Yup I totally jumped the gun on being nervous there. Just got to watch her make her way out smoothly, it just took her a little longer in the beginning. Sometimes it's easy to forget that they've been doing this for millions of years before we humans came to fret over them :)
Oh man I am new to the hobby still, so I got the tarantula bug (bad pun kind of intended) not too long ago. I grew up with a G. rosea who passed 2 years ago, so when my boyfriend suggested getting one to photograph for a website we built, I was all over it. We went to get our B. smithi that...
My little E. camp sling (about 1") has been showing signs of an approaching molt (namely, getting darker) for a week or so, however she did not once refuse a meal, so I figured she still had some time left. I checked in on my T's this evening and all was well. I went up about 2 1/2 hours later...
My A. Brocklehursti molted today! Or I should say started molting today, she's in the process. I just got her a week or so ago too! She was already balding on her opisthosoma and it had totally darkened so I have eagerly been waiting for this. Saw her laying down her silk earlier today and she's...
So I got myself in a rather embarrassing dilly of a pickle today with my new little A. urticans and need some help (I am fairly new to the hobby, just putting that out there.) Anyways, I got the tiny dude in the mail today and went to transfer him* per usual. The second I got the paper towel he...
There are very few specialty pet stores in my area, and none of them are currently stocking any tarantulas that I am interested in. I am considering ordering them online, but am a little bit skeptical because I don't get to see the tarantula first and how its kept, or meet the seller. The last...
This may sound strange but ants hate cucumber. there's a number of different scented oils you can use to naturally deter them, but I wouldn't put them around T's either. I'd try the double sided tape and lay out cucumber peels (not in the cage mind you, just around it.) You could add some lemon...
I have a juvenile B. smithi that I got about 3 weeks ago. For the first while I had her she was just fine, loved her hide, and seemed very content. Over the last 3-4 days she's become very restless, but has maintained an extremely healthy appetite. I am concerned because she's always sitting out...
