    Substrate Ball?

My female N. chromatus and female G. rosea both do this. The chromatus lays own a silk mat, deposits crix remains on it, then gathers it up in a ball and dumps it in her water dish. She usually poops in her dish as well so I am constantly cleanin it out. The rosea lays down a fairly large silk...

OBT wowness! How to replace slings?

Not sure how this would work for larger T's, but for really fast moving slings like OBT's and Pokies it works great. I keep an old glass 10 gallon tank on hand strictly for rehousing purposes. I take a new kitchen sponge and soak it with Veggie Oil then smear it around the tank on the inside...

    OBTs always terrified?

No problem...you will also more than likely find it out at night when the room is dark, or in the wee hours of the morning. Many times I would peek in on it during a 3 a.m. trip to the bathroom and find it out "hunting".

    OBTs always terrified?

At that size, thats pretty much typical behavior for an OBT in my experience, although I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule. I got my current OBT when it was about 2" and it immediately started to dig an elaborate tunnel system and never came out. The only glimpses I got were through the...

    OBTs doing what they do.

    Concerned about my T

Give her some time, substrate is probably too moist for her taste, and the accidental "bath" probably has her freaked out for a while also. I wouldnt worry about it, when the sub dries out she will be fine. G. rosea can be really finicky and do some strange things when put into a new enclosure.

    Kick and flip

Congrats on the molt and great vids, Joe. I have never been fortunate enough to see any of mine flip over either before or after a molt, so the vid of your smithi flipping was really nice to see. Both of my G. pulchras molted in the past 3 days and I got to watch one go through the molt process...

Really simple, and easy way to clean your roach Bins.

Ok, I was under the impression that SOME frass needs to be left in the bin for the nymphs to feed on. Is this correct or did I get some crappy (couldnt resist) {D info?

    Found these in dubia colony....

I didnt know if they came with the dubias when I got them or if they were something naive that infiltrated the colony after I got it. The dubias were bought from Josh's Frogs at a local show over a month ago. They didnt start out too well, but now are doing good, Im getting lots of nymphs...

    Buying T scenario

I agree, even $60 would be a major rip off for a G. rosea, even with a tank. Find a show or expo in your area or close and you will probably find G. roseas for $10 easily. The shows I go to here there are vendors who will literally have them stacked up in big deli cups for $5-10 bucks each.

    My first scorps....

Being new to scorps I have been offering pre-killed food just in case they dont eat something and then one of them molts. Figured it would be less stressful for them also, but they seem to take the crix with gusto so far.

    My first scorps....

I have been keeping tarantulas for quite a long time, but recently just recieved my first scorpions. I have three Pandinus imperators a little over an inch that I am keeping in a fairly large deli cup with a slab of cork bark to hide under, coco fiber for substrate kept fairly moist but not wet...

    Nhandu chromatus molted!

Ok, I'm stoked...my N. chromatus molted in the past two hours after being in pre-molt for a month. I just pulled the exuvium and sexed it. 100% positive FOR a severe case of being FEMALE!!!! WOOT!!! {D She was 4" so Im anxious to see what kind of size she gains this time. I glad the...

To sell and trade or NOT to sell and trade. Ugly decisions.. :(

Sorry to hear of this situation for you. If I had to get rid of my fanny flickers I would be really bummed. So far, (knock on wood) urticating hairs from most T's dont really bother me that much. Brachys and Nhandus give me a mild itch and occasional red bumps if I get a really good dose, but...
