A while since I posted on here, I have come across a picture of what appears to be a Theraphosidae, I'm not sure whether there are any species native to Portugal and whether this is intact even a Theraphosidae but ere is a link to the picture.

9/10 "unsexed" juveniles I have bought PRIVATELY (ie forums etc) and from TARANTULA SPECIFIC WEBSITES have been male, however petshops my results have been comparable (if anything most I have bought from petshops have been female but I think that's just luck or my choice) I think a a lot of...
At 5cm it should easy be able to kill an adult cricket already, my 9 inch female only eats when she wants to, kinda like a Grammostola she recently ended her 6 month eating boycott and randomly started eating again
For us they are Kazaam ;) quite personally I find them very similar and not really much more appealing than A.minatrix, not that justifies a 400% price hike anyway
Quite a few of mine don't mind day time, generally OW's seem more light shy/timid, my Avicularia avicularia doesn't care, her and the L.parahybana an all of my P.cancerides just sit there
Same here, if it does mine are probably all as eagle eyed as Stevie Wonder, I have a very bright torch and i look at them about 15 times a day, if I wake up to use te toilet at 3am I still sneak a peek
There are none on any of the old world skins I have examined, as for it assisting digging, Phoneutria are certainly not considered a fossorial species and also having them pointing downwards on the front legs would not really be a help, I think also the fact the Phoneutria isnt a Theraphosidae...

Do you have a closer picture? And you could put her in a cricket tub and look underneath at her mouth for white residue, suggesting nematodes, I thought my Avic had them the other day, she had just been eating web.
Depends as much on the single specimen as anything, out of 3 Palmopoeus I have owned, my AF irminia and cambridgei have for the most part been as soft as an overgrown Avicularia, with the propensity for the odd defensive behaviour, but I know some people find their specimens to be very defensive...
I didn't mean you, just some of threads/comments I've seen on YouTube videos and other forums, groups on facebook etc... The guys on here are generally more well educated (generally...)
I don't mean to reignite the whole "mice, calcium, moulting" debate, but from my anecdotal observations I feel I have noticed a correlation to the amount of food consumed prior to moulting and the amount of gain to be had subsequent to moulting, I relieve there may possibly be something in the...
