    Tarantula Behavior Question

I'm giving the information I was told by the people who work at the rec center. One told me that she has a lot of crickets in the tank at all times and another told me she was fed once a month. I feed mine about once a week to a couple times a week. She loves crickets! Tried fitting 5 in at...

    Tarantula Behavior Question

I'm figuring it was either that or she was telling me in her own way "I'm done now. Put me down". I didn't think she'd actually bite. I've seen how fast they are! Lol It's not a purchasing issue. There's a recreation center around here that just wants to get rid of her. I'm supposed to talk with...

    Tarantula Behavior Question

I understand the why. I'm wondering more on the actually "slow mo" part of it. If she wanted to bite, she would have. And I wouldn't blame her. My rosie does the same. I'm surprised she hasn't hurt herself with how fast and hard she's hit the tongs! Plus... I hate bunnies. Snake food. Lol

    Tarantula Behavior Question

Bob- Definitely why I got her off in a hurry. Lol. I figured that if she was going to actually bite, she might've been a bit quicker about it. Took about 40 seconds to actually extend her fangs. Maniac- I'd call it more neglect rather than abuse. These people have had her for 15 to 20 years...

    Tarantula Behavior Question

So, I just had a question about common tarantula behaviors. I held a Rose Hair today that someone is willing to give to me. I finally got her on my hand and about 2 minutes later, she extends her fangs (very slowly) and gently presses down on the fleshy palm of my hand. Didn't break skin (got...

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

Well, he defecated this morning like I said and ate. Tried giving him another cricket this evening and showed interest, but no bite. I switched his substrate from the sand to coconut fiber and soaked him in warm water while rubbing his stomach. I'm going to tweezer feed him his food from now on...

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

Thanks. I've used the coconut fiber for my tarantulas and then switched to peat because of some allergy issues with a family member. I just didn't know if the fine fibers would still cause the impaction. Thank you so much. :)

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

So, update. I woke up this morning and the cricket that was in his tank was gone and there was definitely defecation in there. I haven't had a chance to look at it to see if sand is in it or not because I had to run to work, but I did hand feed him about 6 crickets. I am planning on changing his...

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

Okay. Thanks. He was older when I goy him, about the 6-7 inches. He's only shed once in my care. He hasn't defecated for only two days and doesn't feel hard or bloated around the stomach area, if that actually means anything. The heat lamp is red. I made certain to get red so he isn't affected...

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

Thanks. I'm just so worried. Not eating, not defecating, and hiding night and day. He is responsive to my touch and acts almost like he did when I first got him, minus the nightly activity and eating. Curious little bugger. I have him on Repti-sand, in a 5 gallon aquarium. A 75 watt basking bulb...

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

Even though he just shed over the Thanksgiving weekend? I mean... he's pretty fat, but since Thanksgiving he's been acting like this.

African Fat Tail not eating! HELP!

HELP! I recently bought an African Fat Tailed Gecko. He was lively, coming out at night, and a voracious eater. He'd gladly eat a dozen crickets if I let him! I know he's nocturnal, but I would still see him out and about or hear him late at night. Now, he hides in his little home all day...

Help me with my new frog

To add a bit of information, the frog was sold as a Red Eyed Moon Frog. After some research we guessed that he is a Ruby Eyed Tree Frog, Leptopelis uluguruensis. However, since I also have had little experience with exotic frogs, this is ONLY a guess. By the way, I'm the girlfriend. My...

    African Fat-Tailed Gecko

Just last night I got an African Fat-Tailed Gecko, and though I've done research on them previously, nothing really is stated about using the heat lamp during the night. My best friend had an iguana and for the most part didn't have a night heating lamp, but was just wondering if I should for my...
