Is that a mass of viable but abandoned babies beside her? If so have you incubated them to ensure full survival?
Also your male wasn't 5i if he bred. He was 7 and your dealer was mistaken. final molt and sexual maturity happen together. Always.
Heh the Grosphus Grandidieri replacements are from my last brood (probably). The ones I have still are all 3i now and eating very well. Shipping in the winter is rough in Canada. Best of luck. GG's are tough active and aggressive for food. You won't regret owning some.
Very young Grosphus Grandidieri are almost purple bodied with orange arms. They look that way until 4i or so.

Linked a photo of some of my 2i GG's
Your scorpion only needs to eat 1 cricket every week. Possibly every 2 weeks. You've been over feeding him/her to the point where it really doesn't want any more. And doesn't need anymore for weeks. They use food energy very efficiently. As far as the cricket food maybe he was just investigating...
So unless you know someone with a very expensive microscope and the ability to understand what the insides of a scorpion are supposed to look like you can chalk it up to bad luck.
Young bugs die sometimes. It blows but that's why nature makes brood sizes large. Your humidity could have been higher. I've kept 3 at %80-80 F and still lost one. You need to provide ample ventilation and clean up bug bits quickly as mold grows fast under those conditions. But your BJ's should...
I've seen these. They sometimes pop up in my B. Jacksoni enclosures. They are there for the left over cricket bits. Do a better job spot cleaning and picking up the grey balls of chewed up crickets. I once saw them on a molting 5i emp. In that case he ended up losing a leg in an awkward molt...
It sure looks ready to molt. depending on how long it's looked like that and the temperature you keep it at it could molt any time or in weeks. With all that jumbled story of landlords and rats and what not I'd say if you have a buyer sell it right away and focus on your rat farming.
You can use whatever substrate you like but you don't need to mist the ground or keep it wet inside at all. I use coco fiber or eco earth in my desert species to keep them from getting all dusty. They just look prettier in pictures. But I don't mist the ground ever.
Unless your photos are tricking me it looks like you're keeping it on eco earth slightly humid like you would a emp or forest scorpion. That is a mistake. This scorpion is from a dry climate. I'm not trying to be a jerk to you I'm just warning you too much moisture could prove fatal.

I did a PTC count and got 30. This species overlaps at 29 and I'm not sold on it being male from body shape etc. Any of you Buthidae pros want to give me a second opinion.
Well that doesn't work as a picture.

I found small cheap "bug Hut" containers at a local dollarama store. They are the same size as the small exo-terra rectangle plastic but for only 1.00 each. I bought out the stock. Check your Buck or two stores.
Night time is preferred because they do a very good job of blending into their natural habitat. All scorpions glow under black light making their effective natural camouflage ineffective. The care of back scorpions is documented here ...
DO NOT TRY TO REINTRODUCE TO THE MOM. That part of it's life is over. She will eat it for sure if you even attempt it.
You don't need paper towel on top. Actually if you read the post it says you still need adequate ventilation. That German method is impressive and a %100 success rate is better...
It's recommended that you remove the male to avoid stress but at only a few months gravid it really doesn't matter. If he persists in trying to mate she may get hostile so it's essential to provide multiple hides at this point. If you move her she will settle into her new home well before the...
I've raised up 6 from 1i abandoned by their mother to 3 @ 5i 3 @ 6i. I use small deli cups. Keep them 80-90 F day and night. Mist 1/4 of the cup wall every 4-8 days. If I notice it's been dry for a few days i give it tiny spritz. I feed them crickets half their body size every 3 or so days...
