Freshly moulted, tried to peel open the molt with my fingers without tearing it. Will someone be able to ID. I'm guessing it is a female due to what i think is the spermathecae that is exposed. Can anyone confirm or clarify? Thanks.
Cork bark used is from a florist, no insecticide or contaminants. The rest of the Ts housed in them are all fine.

Unfortunately, she didnt make it. =[
They should live up to 10 - 12 years.

Age could be a factor as I do not know exactly how old they are. I doubt humidity and temperature is an issue as I live in the tropics. I got another SGblue, I am wondering if I had made any...
I've just bought her and she had been with me for maybe a month. I'd expect at least 5-10 years from her though but I could be wrong.

Thanks, I hope so too, although it doesnt seem to be picking up. Still no movement as of now, hope...
Hi Poec54,
No, i only feed her crickets i buy from the petshop. I do not expose my Ts to external elements that may be contaminated. That being said, there has not been any fogging in my area either. I'm rather perturbed by whats happening.
Cheers,
Mark
Hi Guys,
Need some help with my SP blue that is dying. Came back home today to find her lethargic and unable to move. I was feeding crickets and was moving the water dish that she was lying next to when i noticed that she didnt attack my tongs. She was fine last night so I cannot really...
Hi guys,
I'm having a little mould problem with most of my terrestrial setup for the burrorers. Most of them are the haplopelma and chilobrachys species. These chaps need a higher dose of water than the others, so I tend to keep te substrate moist all the time. One of the drawbacks is that...
The avics are more colourful of the species mentioned by most. I've got an Avic before, but somehow I am still swayed towards keeping Pokies and any Lampropelmas. Usually they'll stay inside their "empty logs" or be seem wandering around at night but I like them for the size when fully grown...
I finally found her, shes still in my room, here is the story: I woke up to some grinding sound in my bedroom at around 430am. Its the same grinding sound made by my pokie when she was expanding her burrow along the exoterra foam background before I upgraded the tank. So its a rather familiar...
Thanks for the suggestion. I've left a few containers with crickets inside. Hopefully it'll find its way to the food when its hungry. I stay in the tropics, so the ambient temperature and humidity is pretty much the same as its natural habitat. I've left the AC turned on to cool down the...
Hi Everyone,
Just like to share a recent incident that just happened. I've bought a female Lampropelma violaceopes and had transferred it into a set up which I have made. To my great surprise, I've noticed that it had escaped when I was looking at my collection. I have a number of these...
Hi Guys,
I've got this little fella off one of those shops at Bangkok Jatujak market a couple months back. There was a bit of a language barrier but I manage to get the transaction through although I didnt get the species. I am wondering if anyone here could help me ID it.
Much...
To breed them, you will need more than just fruit by itself. The adult males do need some mineral intake to enrich their sperm. Also, you will ensure that you introduce some external genes to avoid inbreeding, usually the 3rd generation will have significant failures if this is not kept in check.
Hi foxtrot,
Your wee bugger looks fine, give it some time like what the others have suggested and try feeding it again. About the Avicularia versicolor being a glutton, i'm not too sure though. Most Ts will eat until they are full, perhaps just some have a higher capacity for filling...
Wait till people go into detail of the subspecies.... Anyway, to further the discussion, scientifically, we use the latin name to identify all living things. As common names are just "nicknames" given by people from different regions. People in one part of the world may call, for instance...
Hi Crysta,
I dont have much knowledge on the butterflies of Canada, but based on your experience, do the butterflies appear all year round? If so the chance of overwintering is quite low. Alternatively, you can keep it in your room or somewhere warmer to trick them into believing its still...
Hi,
Since most of the time the T will not be moving while you are taking the shot, and as for most macro shots you will require your subject to be really still, I'll suggest that you get a decent camera with interchangeable lens, now the micro four thirds are gaining some foothold in the...
