So my 6in A. Chalcodes MF just molted, and Im just curious how long you guys normally wait to feed after they molt?
She hasn't eaten since Feb/March, and molted about 2 weeks ago. I just wanted to hear someone opinions, i normally do 2 weeks, but wasn't sure if a month would be overkill to wait...
Of course! I keep her in a 4x3in box, about 3/4 filled with substrate, I mist 1/3 of the dirt 1-2x a week and keep a small seashell with water daily. Then I just feed her once a week :) ambient temperature is between 75-80F, and she’s molted twice since I posted this!
Can I just ask, as someones who's only had Mature females at this point, don't mature males also tend to play songs or tap on the glass? I think I have a few immature males and was curious what to expect.
I would personally go with the 4 in square, 2 1/4 won't give them much space to stretch out or roam and like you said, fast growing as well, it would need the bigger size in just maybe a molt or so anyway. Congratulation on your new little buddy and welcome to the addiction!
I do suspect she is female and have her most recent molt, but as im unsure how to check the molt myself at this point i have just put it in a bag for now :) I was curious what you guys thought though?
I agree completely, I keep several species of isopods and would not trust them around anything that has just molted. I've seen a vulgare for example eat injured but living isopods of other species, and newly born nymphs. I would not trust them around a vulnerable scorpion, but springtails are...
Okay, i will definitely keep them separate then, I would rather take the extra time and do it like this than losing any of them :) I Do you find the babies need any higher humidity than the adults?
Unless you have some issue with it, mold or fungus, or are rehoming them there really isn't much need to change all of the dirt out. I know some youtubers try to say you should every so often, but that really doesnt make sense and i never understood their logic on that issue.
Hey guys I got a small colony of C Sculpturatus about 2 months ago and 3 females have dropped babies in a week span. I was wondering about how long it takes them to molt and leave the mom?
After searching around I can’t seem to find good info on this particular timeline and figured you guys...
