Gotcha. I'll re-post in the recommended area.
*MODS - Please delete this thread. Thanks!*
And, yes, he's mature. He hooked out about a year ago. :)
Thanks for the info.

~2.5" B. Smith molted 3 days ago. If it comes out of its' hide without B. Smithi colors I'll be posting a "what species is this" post as it's been medium grey up until now (I purchased it from an online company with "iffy" QC and reputation).
MODS: Please delete this thread. I've re-posted it in the "hook-up" area :) Sorry for the trouble (haven't been here in a long, long, time).
I have a mature GBB who is getting long in the fang (3+ years old). He keeps trying to get out of the enclosure (circling it, constantly) - so...
I had two GBBs. One just up-and-died for no apparent reason. I did find two crickets in the enclosure (hiding beneath the webbing when I pulled it out - I thought they were eaten). So I don't know if the stress of two crickets in the enclosure could have done it in, or........?
Anyway...
Thanks, Cold Blood.
I'm not used to having a T take this long to molt (my GBBs spoiled me). All I've read are the things that could possibly go wrong - stuck in molt - dehydrated - etc.
I thought my GBBs taught me patience. This Smithi is apparently going to take my patience to a whole...
Okay - I searched the forums but couldn't find anything (I may be rusty with my search skills.....).
Anyway. Long story short. B. Smith raised from 3/8" and was last seen with just under Quarter-sized leg span.
I re-housed it and it promptly barricaded itself in the PVC hide I made for...
Perocore - It's been a couple years since this thread was posted on, but I keep thinking back to my quote (and using it whenever discussing Ts with people) and was wondering what ever became of the book, and which quotes were used.

iemmaamme - "Thank you!" Having appreciated/understood that bit of nerd-dom, you have inspired me........ "Schroedinger" is now that B. Smithi's name (whether male, or female). Thank you for that moment of enlightenment :)

After losing one of my two, mature, male GBB's a few months ago, I purchased a B Smithi sling (3/8"). After a meal or two and one molt, I put the B Smithi in an enclosure which may have been just a little big for it (a Container Store box - small, but still around 8x and 12x larger than its leg...
Sorry to hear about your loss GD.
Yeah. It's funny how attached we can get to any kind of pet (whether pet-able or not :) ).
This morning, before I hopped in the shower, Dieter (Magellan's brother) was having a drink of water. After the shower, I checked him out and he was grooming...
Hobo,
There's a guy at a local PetSmart who raises/breeds T's. Unfortunately (based upon his girl's molting schedule) he says they won't be ready until January. He even told me he didn't think my males would live long enough to make to January - but would gladly give them a chance if they do...
I managed to lose the data on my T's during the move, but I think I've had Magellan since June of 2012? He was about 1" when he arrived. Well, last night I fed both GBBs and he was alive at the time (and avoiding the cricket). He seemed quite well last week, tackling a cricket. This time he...
My two GBB's molted about 6 weeks ago. I waited two weeks before offering them crickets. Long story short - they ate one cricket, each - but today (after dropping in a cricket) found that a an extra cricket dropped in a week ago, wasn't eaten!
So - my once a week voracious feeders are...
Loctite has a silicone product which is labeled as "aquarium safe". I see no mention of anti-mold/mildew on the packaging or tube. I'm starting a new enclosure build (first time attempt at this). I'll be using the traditional acrylic welding product (I forget the name) but will use the...
I'd recommend ditching the coco-husk fiber substrate and switching to Eco-Earth (available in brick, or already dry substrate bag - the dry bag is better, IMO).
My GBBs seemed very unhappy on the husk fiber. Once I switched to Eco-Earth their "personalities changed" - meaning - they left...
It seems to vary from species to species.
My two GBB's were chow hounds from the moment I got them. A cricket a week and they were good to go.
My Euathalus sp Red is about 1/2" and only seems to eat once a month. More pinhead crickets have died on the surface while "Red" is deep in...
"The heaviest"??? The only time I ever held a T (at an aquarium, where an owner was letting people hold his snakes an T's) the T that about covered my hand weighed about as much as 100 snowflakes.
WTH?
Oh, well.
Whatever.

I have a Euthalus Sp. "Red" sling which is now roughly .5" DSL (difficult to really tell).
It's in a Container Store enclosure, roughly 3x3 by 5"H. The Red has dug a tunnel nearly to the bottom of the enclosure (impressive, for such little guy!) and it has closed off the top with about .5"...
Both of my GBB's finally went to 99% adult colors this last molt - about 3 weeks ago - when they reached 3"-3.25".
By 99% I mean that the green on the carapace is solid, but not dark like I've seen in pictures of older GBBs.
They were .75" when I got them last June, so it took them 1.3...
