Ready for a More Agressive T?

Generally speaking... 6 out of 10 times the metallicas stay where they're at and not hide if I'm not using a flashlight. The others duck for cover as soon as I touch the tank locks. If I shine the flashlight at any of my pokies they'll look for cover. My spider room is pretty dark so most of...

Ready for a More Agressive T?

I don't normally comment on threads like this. I've only been into t's for a couple years, so there are way more experienced keepers out there. After reading some of the comments I still find it amazing how all t's can have such different personalities. To start, I don't handle any of my t's...

Bag Transfer Technique: How To Transfer Your Tarantulas

I could be wrong but, if you're already going to all the trouble of trying the bag method, I would assume that you'd have a back up plan in case something goes wrong. no way is fool proof, but being prepared for anything unexpected can usually make it a simple process...

Bag Transfer Technique: How To Transfer Your Tarantulas

Agreed. Because someone goes along with caution, it's assumed they can't handle it. I'm sorry, but some of these comments are plain ridiculous. I'm not necessarily "scared" of my t's, but I'd rather be sure nothing happens to me or them... It seems some people here would prefer to have some new...

Comment by 'mholmgree' in media 'P. Metallica #2'

Thanks. That's what I wanted hear. I was thinking #1 was but I wasn't certain, her stripe is also starting to disappear. #2's stripe is still pretty dark, and that little nub by the lung was making me second guess myself. I'm happy, got a pack of 5 girls... hoping the rufilatas are too.

    Heating?

I get one side of the tank to the upper ranges of there daytime temps and let them choose where they want to hang out. I put a hiding spot on each side and one in the middle to give them 3 options. Most of mine choose the hot side or the middle... They know better than you where they want to be...

    Hadrurus arizonensis vs. Smeringurus mesaensis

It was skinny when I got it. As I stated its eaten 2 crickets in the 6 months I've had it, pretty sure it's not over fed. When I bought it it was supposedly an adult, it's adult sized. My opinion is it's gravid. And from what I've read it will most likely not give me any babies in captivity. I...

    Hadrurus arizonensis vs. Smeringurus mesaensis

My hairy is boring. Looks gravid or ready to molt, for the last couple months. It has only eaten 2 crickets in the 6 months I've had it. Hardly ever comes out, stays in its maze of burrows in 6in of substrate. My dune is awesome. Eats a lot. Out every night at dusk, runs around the tank...

    Vaejovis spinigerus babies

Didn't realize or mean for this to start any arguments. I appreciate all the info being shared. I'm by no means an expert. But I'm not surprised by her eating some. I mean at the end of the day she is just a bug. Who knows whats going through that brain. Maybe she's content with the ones that...

    Vaejovis spinigerus babies

I should clarify I've only seen her actually eat 1. My wife said it looked like she was eating something but wasn't sure, she's not really fond of my pets. So far the 11 are still on her back while the others are basically being incubated by her. The mound of babies is bigger than her. The 11...
