A new found respect for my A.Versicolor

That's a fantastic name :) I still don't have a name for mine. I have a hard time naming since I don't know if it's a male or female. I keep calling it "it", or "my spider".

A new found respect for my A.Versicolor

My little guy/girl is growing up so fast. I went to clean it's enclosure today and I have a new respect for how fast it moves. In just a couple of seconds it went from my enclosure to my shoulder. I was able to wrangle it back in there, but wow. Just wow. Just wanted to share that. (Pics...

    A.Versicolor Molting Problems [Panic]

Update! (With Pictures) So, I pulled him out of the ICU today and redid his enclosure. Here are a few pictures! He seems to be doing good still. Not much walking around and I suppose the only question I have left it whether to try to feed him live prey or not.

    A.Versicolor Molting Problems [Panic]

I decided to make up an ICU (as per http://people.ucalgary.ca/~schultz/icu10.html) and place him in there for a day and see if he gets a little more pep in his step. He did move to a different location, but he is sort of balled up. Doesn't look like a complete death curl, but close enough to...

    A.Versicolor Molting Problems [Panic]

The legs themselves twitched once removed. I attempted to remove the legs afterwards to see how "stuck" they were and it was like they were hot glued in there. Right now, I misted his enclosure and threw a shirt over it (no covering the vent) so he can try to relax a little bit. About the...

    A.Versicolor Molting Problems [Panic]

I made a huge blunder today, one that I wish I could take back a thousand times. My Versi (0.5" to 0.75") has been molting for the last few days and it's legs were still stuck in the molting. It started molting sometime between the 3rd and the 4th of July. I got worried and started reading...

    A.Versicolor Enclosure question

Well, small update. He doesn't seem to be displaying any behavior that would worry me. I suppose the only exception would be that he still hasn't eaten. I placed a frozen cricket in his webbing and there it sat. I figured the guy would be starving after not eating for so long. I am still...

    A.Versicolor Enclosure question

Man, I hope you guys are right. I just want my little guy to be all awesome. :) If this is what being a parent feels like, I empathize with parents everywhere.

    A.Versicolor Enclosure question

Ok, so you guys were dead on about him being premolt. He molted a couple days ago and I have been leaving him alone. I now have a few other problems. I am the worst spider keeper ever. :( I was attempting to get his molting out of his webbing since it was occupying a majority of it space and...

    A.Versicolor Enclosure question

Here is a picture of my new enclosure. Is this a little too big for him (He's 0.5 inches)? He's tucked away in the corner and has not started webbing yet. I know I'd be a little upset if someone came and destroyed my home, but I had to do what I had to do. He actually dropped a little poo on...

    New A.Versicolor Owner

I've never owned a tarantula before (arachnophobe) and just acquired my first spiderling. He's 0.5' and so darn adorable. I'm having a couple of issues and was hoping for some wise advice. First, I keep wrecking his webbing when I open the lid every time I go to feed him. I would love to...
