I got her September 2015 as a comfirmed female (2.5"+).
I've attached an image of her enclosure and what she looks like as of this moment (I positioned her legs to see her abdomen better).
Over the last five days, I've been trying to nurse my girl back to health. Today she finally died.
Day 1, I found her on the bottom of her enclosure in the death curl next to her (large water dish), gave her an additional water bowl (Gatorade lid). I nudged her towards it and she drank heavily...
Sexing this little one (2-3") for a friend. Looks pretty darn female to me, but the molt was pretty tore up. That's the point of a needle for reference.
I have my sons two millipedes in a 8oz deli cup while we wait for the hardwood substrate to arrive.
Will they be ok in this cup with some coco fiber and a chunk of moss for a couple days? They seem to really like hanging out inside the moss. I also have a small waterbottle lid to provide water...
Less than 8% of the lid and even then, the mesh is pretty dense.
Worst case I'll cover up part of the vents. What should I be looking for to find the optimal ventilation?
E.g. Sub takes 2 days to dry on surface
@mickiem
Is something like this ok? I previously used it for my dubia, but it holds humidity better than I wanted for the 100 or so that were in there. The mesh spacing is about 1.5mm.
Also, that sub is just some shredded forest moss and coco fiber for under the hardwood sub (it'll come in with...
Huh, i was hoping to sneak in another 'pet'. But if it's going to eat the millipedes, I'd rather not.
Thanks for the reply!
What's wrong with the hobby lobby boxes? Is there some major difference I can't think of besides clarity compared to sterilite?
I've been looking at letting my 9 year old get some millipedes as they seem the safer alternate to Scolopendra. :p
I'm thinking either Chicobolus spinigerus or Narceus americanus.
They will probably be housed in a modified medium KK (hot glue in excess holes) or hobby lobby model box like I...
Interesting... it's been awhile since i fed crickets, but I'm pretty sure all of mine always "chew" their food up before eating it.
Also, thanks for your service!
Are her fangs intact? Does she do the "crunch, crunchy get in my tummy" chew with her chelicerae?
How are temps? It's not a swamp in there with humidity, right?
