    General project question

I would do it on the ecology of tarantulas so people can see the relationship of tarantulas in the world for a few reasons: 1) You could expand to any species and location to demonstrate their helpfulness. 2) Educate the public in hopes to reduce the “they are out to gets us” attitude. 3) You...

It seems to be easier and just not use any frogs for feeding. I would imagine it would leave a big mess too.

    Anaphylactic reactions???

Today I had a long talk with a Toxicologist at work during lunch regarding the subject matter. Due to our discussion and further keyword searches I have completely changed my position on the subject. It doesn’t matter if Tarantula venom consists of Peptide Antibodies its still can trigger an...

    Feeding Pokies

I use the “small” 12” x 12” x 12” exoterra for an avic and it looks a little small for my growing pokie. I’m thinking of going with the “medium” 18” x 18” x 18” for its adult cage. For me a lot of tank space is reduced due to a lot of furnishings, I intend it to reach 9” in leg span and I want...

    Anaphylactic reactions???

Are you bring up “spider venom” because of the link name or are saying that they can’t induce cardiac issues? :? I think the term “allergic reactions” is tossed around a lot due to the possibility of necrosis and people may equate that to an “allergic reaction”.

    Anaphylactic reactions???

This link has a lot info but I do question the source of “Instances of cardiac failure reported”. I went to the source link and did a search Poecilotheria and got a “The Truth About Regalis” which lead me to a bogus ad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider_bite Regarding peptides they are...

    question

Typically the tiny mealworms have gotten them through a few feedings before I can introduce something else and the spiderling has grown considerably. My local pet shop doesn’t carry pin heads or fruit flys and a lot of my spiderling refuse to eat “cricket chunks”.

    question

Some people due use prekilled crickets and just offer a small piece at a time. I purchase mealworms and place them in a Tupperware container half filled with oats. Within a few weeks I dig around and usually find a few really small baby mealworms and use them.

Are some ts just genetically fat?

I thought this was an interesting question so I did some searches. It appears that even genetic obesity requires over eating. Due to a “genetic glitch” they never feel full so they eat more than what is needed they are not overweight by default. I have no idea if this applies to tarantulas (I...
