Hello there,
I was wondering if this is indeed a Segestria bavarica? It was found in a wall in the Netherlands, I was kind of looking for a Segestria florentina but I found this one. Pictures in the link below.
Does anyone have any information on them? Lifespan, mating cycle/process (read...
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can ID this "little" bugger. Located in the Netherlands, size was about ~3 centimeters in length.
Sorry for the horrible pictures, I kinda got nervous when it started flying...

After a few years I decided picking up on some Steatoda grossa again, I currently have 2 mature females. I just got my first DSLR Camera (Canon EOS D1100 with 18-55 IS II) and decided to take it out for a spin.
Heya everyone,
Just a quick question for confirmation about whether this beauty is a Steatoda bipunctata or not, found her outside in the backyard shed. Was a male on the same web, though this female doesn't seem to be mature yet?
Body is about 0.2 inch.

This might be an interesting read: http://www.spiderpharm.com/SiteAssets/latrodectus/999.full.pdf
I barely understand a single word of it though, haha. I was trying to find out the difference between the a-latrotoxin in Latrodectus genus and in the Steatoda genus but I have no clue what they...
Hehe, I know how you feel mate. I've been keeping Steatoda grossa for quite a while and they are native in the Netherlands and many people find it odd that I keep native animals. Native spiders are just as amazing as spiders from all over the world, in my opinion.
Though, I wonder how it is...
There is water present for both of them, but haven't even seen them come close to it. (They did web it though... they will web every single inch of the enclure...) Spraying the web every week should be a good way to keep them hydrated? Thank you about the feeding part, I didn't know that. :eek...
There are plenty of Tegenaria near my house, just look for the webs, get a paintbrush and make some vibrations and they come rushing in. They have an amazing feeding response. I guess I'm quite lucky.
Two pictures of one of my two Tegenaria sp. females. This one I've caught later, in the same shed as the first one. They had huge webs over there with multiple eggsacs. This lady made an eggsac in her enclosure and web completely everything! And oh they eat like pigs! I first fed them small...
What species of spider? Just give her some time, and leave her alone and she will probably make a new web. When she has a complete web again you can try feeding her again, and you can spray some water on the web.
