I work with Michael, the enthusiast who was evicted from his home. It's a shame how ignorant most people are in regards to exotics. Your average dog (or cat) can cause much more damage to a person than any of the animals Michael keeps. Anyway, I've bought several spiders from him and plan on...
1. I did not sculpt the wall at all. Just tried to get some interesting textures and shapes as I was spraying the foam.
2. I used "Great Stuff" expanding spray foam
3. I do not believe there will be any ill effects on the T. I allowed it to cure for at least 7-10 days, so there should...
I work in management for a petsmart in NC and have never heard of any stores in NC carrying them. I think its strange that some stores in certain areas carry them while others do not. There are a number of corporate policies I don't understand or agree with but I can't change anything from the...
the foam was covered in several layers of grout and painted before I added the moss. I used black silicone to attach the exo-terra "forest moss" to the background. It stuck quite easily to the rough texture of the grout.
thanks for the replies guys n gals! I'm already gathering ideas for my next build, most likely an arboreal enclosure :-) the grout most certainly would work for any species of tarantula in my opinion.
Hey guys. I recently decided to have a go at making a custom foam background for a terrestrial tarantula enclosure. I've had a cracked ten gallon terrarium laying around for ages so it seemed like a good candidate for my first attempt. I also had a slightly damaged rock cave type reptile hide...
well done! I had my scariest rehousing/handling experience monday night. I was rehousing my 4" Poecilotheria pederseni and decided to attempt to hold him for a quick photo or two. (seemed like a good idea at the time) smh. I got him onto my hand but when I reached for the camera he went...
each arboreal enclosure is made of two acrylic craft boxes purchased from Michaels. I cut a large hole in each of the lids with a soldering iron w/ a blade attachment. The lids were glued together to form a coupling for the two boxes. Add a little substrate, cork bark and decor. Hope this...
i have an adult A. metallica in the exact same petco "halfmoon" terrarium pictured. Its plenty big size wise (bigger than it needs to be actually), and has plenty of ventilation in my experience.
Hey guys. I went out looking for critters today and found this grub. I believe its a stag beetle larva. Wondering if anyone has kept one of these thru its change into a beetle. Also looking for any tips or info on care. I've got it in a sterilite container with moist soil substrate and...
