Hey AB!
So I noticed last night that my adult female E. pulcherrimaklaasi has white poop on her spinnerettes. I know that I've seen people asking about this before but I can't remember what the verdict was. I'm just concerned about it drying over and not allowing fecal matter to pass...
My mature female and immature male Pamphobeteus sp. "platyomma". They're just so stocky and beautiful. My P. muticus and H. gigas are probably tied for 2nd place, though.
I may be in the minority here, but I'm not a huge fan of pokies (don't shoot!). I'm not even sure why; they're lovely T's. They just don't really do it for me. I think it's because I prefer stocky terrestrial and burrowing Ts like Pamphobeteus and Pelinobius muticus.
As Suzuki said, their growth rate is like molasses. Mine will go long periods of time without eating before and after a molt, and even between molts they aren't ravenous eaters, IME. All 3 of my slings get fat and shiny when they're in premolt but I haven't noticed a significant coloration...
I went into a store the other day and the woman ringing me up noticed the tattoo on my wrist of a European garden spider resting on a rose. She said, "I like your rose tattoo! But that spider is so creepy; I'm sorry but I kill spiders with shoes. I'm arachnophobic," to which I responded...
Haha oh absolutely!! He's so fun to watch for that reason. He's really creepy and slow and then BAM! He's out and back in before my eyes can even register what's happening. Anyway, I found a couple of (kind of crappy) pictures I took of him a few months ago.
My only regretful T purchase wasn't due to my lack of interest in the T, but due to what my (then) lack of experience caused. I bought a GORGEOUS adult female P. lugardi back when I was new-ish to the hobby. I saw her at the local exotics shop and just had to have her. I wish I hadn't been so...
Edited because I realized you were addressing Poec and not me :P
Thanks for all the feedback guys, good to know that C. andersoni is a real species name :) haha. He's pretty handsome, fun to watch, and definitely my "creepiest" T-- he's very leggy and moves eeeeever so slowly out of his...
When I was new(ish) to the hobby, I bought a pretty orange T labeled "Chilobrachys andersoni" or "Burmese Mustard Tarantula". He is now penultimate and I've noticed that in all of the time that I've owned him I have never seen or heard anyone talk about C. andersoni and I'm wondering why. Is...
Thank you! I plan on having another local hobbyist come over to help out so I may have him snap a few pictures. If I'm able to get any decent ones I'll make sure to post them! Thanks again, you've been incredibly helpful!
He's been mature for several weeks now, I can't remember the exact date and I'm at work so I can't check, but between 2 and 5 weeks for sure. He's probably making and eating them!
Yeah this was my concern as well. I can't be 100% sure that he's loaded and I don't want to risk pairing them unless I'm sure. He's definitely ready to go, just need him to make a web. I'll take your advice and put some of her web in his tank :) Thanks for the advice!!
Edit: if he's eating...
Hey guys--
I bought a MM A. pulcherrimaklaasi from another AB user a few weeks ago. Since he arrived, he has spent the majority of his time running around and looking for a way to get out (expectedly-- he's ready to mate!). I've been power-feeding my female for a few weeks now and she's ready...
Hey guys! I have a big female Pamphobeteus sp. "platyomma" who just molted on 7/6. Her male counterpart molted on 7/8, and I was anticipating it to be his maturing molt and I could pair them. It wasn't. He is a beautiful T and I would like to pair him with her but now I'm concerned that he will...
