    Dangerously long molt?

So I found it dead tonight. Was fine last night and I was actually pretty hopeful about this. It was hanging with one leg attached to some webbing and the rest just hanging, legs all crippled.

    Dangerously long molt?

That's great news, the bleeding has stopped from what I can see. I believe it was just the initial droplet from when he ripped it off. There was no blood near the sockets for the pedipalps. He/she is moving around and appears to be okay considering. I keep the room at 75f, and I'll be sure to...

    Dangerously long molt?

Sling is still stuck... still alive and moving but stuck. From what I can see it must be the pedipalps or the fangs. I tried wetting the stuck area with a wet paintbrush. Not sure what else I could do to help. ---------- Post added 06-03-2012 at 02:02 PM ---------- Well I just came back...

    Dangerously long molt?

The molt is coming on 24hours. Also I just double checked to see what I could see. It looks to me like all 8 legs are out, the abdomen is completely out. It really looks like the "face" is the part that is stuck.

    Dangerously long molt?

So I went to mist my slings last night and notice my A. versi was in the middle of a molt. At this point I opted to leave it alone and not bother spraying/soaking the sub. Now, tonight I go down to spray it and remove the molt... which is not done. The lil guy is still alive, and appears to be...

    Molting- Problem with B. emiia

My 1/2" P. irminia just finished a molt, was my first molt ever AND I was lucky enough to be home to keep an eye on him during the process. Anyways he was laying sideways in a little burrow he made, didn't even look like he was going to have room to come out he was wedged in place so tight. At...

    Wife Doesn't like Spiders

You should explain to her how it works and why Ts have venom. About how you cannot de-fang or de-venom them without killing them. That they absolutely must have their fangs to inject their prey with venom so that it can turn them to a gooey substance that they drink. Kind of gross to some...

Using moss to slighty raise humidity for slings??

I don't know if this applies to spiders or not, but many humidity loving reptiles don't actually prefer constant humidity. It's often times better to let the humidity drop, then through misting raise it way up again. Again I'm not sure if this applies to spiders at all, but something to give...

    Wife Doesn't like Spiders

My girlfriend always said no because she had an "allergic" reaction to a spider bite as a child. After researching my butt off I was able to form an educated argument why that was either false or didn't matter. Simply explained to her how rare spider allergies are and that the doctor probably...

    Allergic to tarantulas?

    My thoughts exactly!

My t keeps dirt in it's water bowl?

Fix? Don't keep tarantulas. Seriously, sounds to me like a spider being a spider. Only way to fix that is for it not to be a spider, which means it won't happen.

    avicularia purpurea

I got six new slings yesterday, (1 to 9 now), and one of them was A. purperea along with versicolor and amazonica. He's a cute little guy, especially the threat display he threw me when I took him out of the vial! No webbing from him yet, although my amazonica has built himself a hammock. Took...

    T night time activity

This describes my B. emelia perfectly. She sits there doing nothing except eating. However at night or when I go away for a day or two, I come home/wake up to what looks to be a construction site. I have no idea what her ultimate goal is, but every now and then she will destroy everything...

    Arboreal sling enclosures

Hey everyone, I'm currently preparing for some slings and am going to be getting some arboreal in the order. These will be 1/2" slings when I get them so pretty small. My two ideas for enclosures are either a pill vial (not sure where I'll get them) OR some plastic salt shaker/spice shaker...

The best of the New World

Hey everyone, I know these threads are a dime a dozen but I thought I'd do it anyways. I'm currently looking into ordering some Ts and am looking to keep it "New World". I am not interested in handling, so that type of trait should not be considered. I'm looking to get both terrestrial and...

I want I want I want... Where do you draw the line?

For me this applies to more than just spiders. I have to stop from buying snakes, geckos, turtles, lizards, fish, spiders, another dog, maybe a giraffe or an elephant who knows. That being said, I do not have restraint. I have a lovely girlfriend who restrains me :)

    Lost a worm...

I think Emily ate it, but I'm not positive so maybe not. Thanks though guys, glad to know it's nothing to worry about. Just kind of being extra cautious as it's my first.

    Ts in vacinity of deodorant

+1 That stuff can give me headaches from the other side of the house, I can imagine what it "could" do to an animal that size in the same room.
