    Orb spider threat

I thought it a slightly interesting note to post here. I got/captured an cat faced orb spider from a person off of kijiji(Canada's version of craig's list). I wish I had saved the original post thread, but it was the odd posts you see on kijiji and similar. The post was for preferably an...

    Pranks

I tried to pull a prank on one of my co-workers. I brought in a molt in a sandwich bag and put in on a co-workers lunch bag. The co-worker got mad and wrote me up. The employer was not happy with me. The employer said the act was "disrespectful" and even "dangerous" as the molt could carry...

    Parents

After some messy affairs including divorce and losing my former palce of residience, I came to live with my parents after being moved out for over a decade. I was not willing to lose my exotic pets...

I was just watching youtube and I came across this video. R1SqRUX05Us I was just wondering if B. vagans is considered an invasive species in Florida do people just do whatever they want with them? How common are they in Florida? Are there people just going out to catch them for the pet...

Things you would have like to have known when you started out

I am sure that there are things we would have all like to learn earlier in keeping tarantulas. One thing that did not seem to get much coverage in the care sheets/novice advice sheets is the importance of sex in tarantulas. One of my first tarantulas was an elderly male that had hooked out...

    Illegal Tarantulas

The exotic laws and bylaws are so variable from region to region and country to country, and few people outside the exotic pet community really know or care about these laws. I saw overnight in a city I used to live in my collection go from legal to illegal . Now I live in a rural area...

    Emergency Food

This is a theoretical question, you never know what will happen. I am glad for those of you that live in warm places and close to major cities, but I am isolated and live in a cold environment. And yes I know Ts can go months without food especially G. Rosea, but it may not be good for them...

    Animal control/Tarantula incidents

I am really thinking of moving back to the "sticks" myself. The only problem is internet access where we used to live sucks and the neighbour is a dickhead. Still if the internet access is better now, I don't see what would be holding me back other than the gas money it would cost to go to my job.

    Animal control/Tarantula incidents

OK, OK, I should say New world with medicially insignificant venom, but one needed to be careful of how thing are worded when talking to an ignorant public. So, I prefer to say non-venomous/poisonous even though that is not correct.

    Dead feeders/Alternatives to live insects

I been trying to think of alternatives to feeding live insects to my tarantulas. I have from time to time fed frozen pinkies to my tarantulas with mixed reactions. I seem to get poor reactions with trying to feed dead insects to my tarantulas. Starting a feeder colony of this or that just...

    Animal control/Tarantula incidents

My co-workers at work know I keep tarantulas. One day one of my co-workers came up to me said basically because I live above a dental office I should report my animals to the local animal control and/or have permits for them. I basically looked at her and asked why. All my tarantulas are...

Question about threat postures/behavior (B. Vagans)

In my experience B. vagans show threat poses more in the hides/holes than in the open. My two vagans are generally calm and very rarely give me threat poses.

    Help!!!!!!!

    B. smithi can be pretty good at escaping from enclosures. It will probably be in the same room as the enclosure, either under, behind, or in something that is low to the floor. If you don't find it within the first day or two, don't be too worried as I have heard of people finding their...
