i'll happily go to our local woods and grab tonnes of soil, bark, live and dead branches, leaf litter, rock....pretty much anything and use that,
as peteruk said...i like all the bugs.....they are actually very helpful in a viv but imo theres no point heat treating,as some mites can survive...
i see what you mean with the perfect circle, this can be adjusted but it'll make it harder to cleans espec with the smaller versions (for juvi's) and its a full bodied waterproof plastic....no it dont leech any toxins
i get brown silicone from the range and is a brand called 'mangers' not sure if its avaliable in the usa, but any brown silcone(normally used for window and door frames) is fine once fully cured....48hours

any aquarium silicone is fine, i personally use varnish as silicon is a pain to spread and varnish you just brush on
to the op....awesome design and effect,
but if you place a mat under it ,the foam is an insulator so the heat wont travel through
i stick to uk plants...... sedge grass, lords and ladies plant and purple violoet dog plants.... and 4 different mosses....it was all picked from local woods

i havent ever seen them dig any up and i've never re-rooted any, they eat those purple flowers thou!!!!,i've put it down to maybe they can see in a certain uv that the flowers use for there markers to attract bees,wasp, butterflies etc....this...
this was home to 5 female emp scorps but i've just added a new one
i put a male inside every so often and he tends to mate with two(sometimes three) then gets nasty so he goes back to his pad
