Tarantulas get enough stress from general keeping. I strongly go against the idea of adding more stress plus the chance of injury by handling. Even though I occasionally have the urge to handle my "pets" I don't. I guess it helps that I have a worsening allergic reaction to the urticating hairs...
It has most likely been kicking hairs (alot). Some will do this before a molt as a defensive measure. It can also happen because the tarantula is kicking due to a normal defensive mechanism (such as not liking being handled).
Um.....while many places would think you needed help. Here you are among those who share your fascination of what our guests do. Some of the most excited comments on these forums come from feeding responses.
When purchasing feeders I often make comments relating to the feeders lack of...
Best bet is to do a search for "feeder insects nutritional value". You can do a relativly direct comparison of what you can get locally.
I will say that no matter what you want to use, your tarantula may chose something else. Ask the breeder that you purchase from what your new T has been eating.
If you are comfortable without a jacket in your car the T will be as well. A light proof container such as a box, lunch box, etc. can be of use to reduce stress as well.
For a small collection I do not breed feeders, so I get whatever I can source locally. Crickets are usually the cheapest around where I am. They're around 15 cents locally so I buy a few extra and if they die before I use them it's no big loss.

I don't care how you provide a proper environment for your tarantulas, or other pets as long as it provides the correct environment. That said you keep coming back to space heaters causing fires. You even made a...
Personally I'd ditch everything inside the glass and rebuild. However you might get away with removing everything; getting rid of the dirt; washing everything else really well, and then put it back together.
Urticating hairs are obnoxious...
lol, I've become pretty much immune to this type of behavior. However I do usually have a snappy comeback for those who like to make squishing comments.
As to finding local like minds, I have found that pet store employees around my area, much to my surprise are interested in the hobby. Now I...
Deeper is better
My C Marshalli was in a Better Homes/Felli flip top container 5x5x9 until she was around 3 1/2". Now she's in some ginormous thing for the depth, until I make a custom enclosure in the dimensions I want. If your moving up I would go with at least twice the dls and as...
