    Tarantula tattoos?

I'll have to see if I can get a pic of one of the staff's tattoos of a pokie to put up. Tegu, not tarantula, but still cool -Jen

    Species Poecilotheria metallica

Depends on where the bark comes from, but it can be a suitable part of a substrate mix. Depends on the T and depends on the bark, of course. Either way, nice looking metallica, and the set up looks great too :) -Jen

    B smithi fast movement speed

Like others have said, "slow" with spiders is a relative term. If your T was scared or trying to escape some prey, naturally it is going to move faster than a walk. You may want to try a different type of feeder insect for now, sounds like the worm may have been a bit larger than she wanted to...

    Scorpion Identification

Kind of hard to tell from the photo, and a lot of the Vaejovid's are pretty similar looking. I would guess Paruroctonus for this guy. Several Paruroctonus species are reported in Inyo county, though I believe there are also Vaejovis species and Smeringurus there as well, though it doesn't appear...

    Awesome Experience!!

From what I've read it basically seems to be because the two compounds that I'm aware of (Beta carboline and 7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin) that cause scorpions to fluoresce are developing/becoming present as the emergent scorpion's cuticle hardens. Interestingly, Stahnke discovered that a scorpion...

    Diurnal Species?

Hey Ron, my pleasure. You may already know this, but it's worth noting that there has been some extensive revision to Vaejovidae's systematics in the last couple decades, so some species may now have different genus names. The Vaejovids listed in Harington's paper (Vaejovis littoralis and V...

    Diurnal Species?

Hey Ron, diurnalism in scorpions definitely appears to be the exception as opposed to the rule, even in species it is documented in. As noted in Harington's notes, even P. villosus is only considered to be partially diurnal. Certain Vaejovids have documented diurnal behaviour (no vaejovids are...
