I got a sling for 125. I was torn between that and an idiothele mira for equal price, but the balfouri wound up winning because I have wanted one for longer. I personally haven't seen a balfouri in person or online for less than 200 and haven't seen a mira less than 225 (online).

+1. Almost all of my terrariums are modified from Michaels with the exception of one. Those plus a 35 dollar dremel and you are saving yourself a good bit of money.

I didn't keep a record of the size increases that came along with each molt, but I can tell you the dates of the molts, since I have had mine, and that currently around 4" and that it was around .75" when I received it. 6JUL11 17AUG11 25SEP11 13DEC11 11FEB12 12APR12 Hope that helps a bit.

I purchased a P Metallica when it was a bit under an inch. I posted a similar question before buying asking people's opinion on whether or not they were worth the money. In your case, I would not purchase the 4" unsexed T. If you have made the decision to spend all that money on one T, why not...

My mother when she saw my terrarium in my room with my first T in it. She acted very similar to bradd pitt in the end of se7en but was not waiving a 45 around.

I have a sling cambridgei as well and I was wondering if I was doing something wrong as well when mine burrowed. However, since its last molt, it has come out of hiding and is living up high now. I read that it's not abnormal for this species as a sling to burrow.
