After viewing your pictures, my primary concern is honestly the height of the enclosure. It looks like it could be a pretty long fall if the T goes off exploring for any reason. Everything else has already been said by some pretty senior members.
Next time, I'd recommend using way more...
This. A lot of people don't really know what DKS is or looks like.. In the end of the day it could be anything. If you freeze your tarantula, your eliminating any chance of recovery.
Let them settle in. Then feed them. This could take from a few hours, to even months. I usually wait for them to start webbing/get out of a constant stress ball to feed them.
What's this A.avics size?
Honestly, the best choice would be to go to Jamies online store and just buy one of her versi color slings. A versi was the third spider I bought. I had it living in an enclosure with not so great ventilation for a while, and it didn't die. People don't give this...
I support online breeders when it comes to most of my purchases. But I will occasionally help my privately owned local pet store. I want to help small business, and I want to promote the correct husbandry of arachnids and insects.
If I want more bang for my buck, online breeders are the way...
Thank you so much for sharing this. I never really had much interest into H. incei until now This enclosure is beyond amazing. I love how you have a chunk of an ecosystem, just living together. So remarkably well done. Please keep updating this thread!!
Sounds like a normal Grammostola and burrower honestly. Grammostola are slow growers, at that size, you shouldn't be expecting molts that often. And burrowers sometimes just like to close up their burrows and relax for a bit. Sounds like everything is perfectly normal, and you have nothing to...
Pictures would be very helpful. That being said, the usual rule is to leave the T alone until it starts to stink. But again, pictures could be very helpful in this situation.
Are you guys honestly shrugging off handling an OBT that easily? It's an OBT.. ORANGE BITEY THING. No. Don't handle it at all. An OBT is a "look, don't touch" pet
Read everything Stan wrote and be thankful! I never got a welcome from Stan, and you have no idea how long it took for me to right all my wrongs by just learning by myself little by little. Fun experience, but I felt bad for my T once I realized how wrong everything was.
Also, don't worry about...
Lol this reminds me when my collection was getting out of hand. "No more tarantulas!!", and yet nobody noticed when a new vial would should up with a pokie in it :wicked:
Pictures could help us a lot more than you think lol.
The prey that you offer should be around the size of it's carapace, and if it seems to be "scared" of the prey, I find that a good option for slings is prekilled. Pop the head of that worm/cricket, and leave it there for 12-24 hours, and...
