We recently got a ball python from the reptile expo in Renton. According to the seller, he was fed live. I was concerned, but my love for the snake won out. I bought him and a bag of frozen medium rats. After the initial settling in period, I attempted to feed him. I made the rat dance and got...
We get our stash from Glacier Rodents at the expos. 100 pinkies for our 2 corn snakes were $31 (my husband's corn eats 3 pinkies a week, my corn eats 2). 10 medium rats were $30 for our newly acquired ball python.
^ Were you at the Renton, WA expo yesterday, LordRaiden?
Oh, my god, you have so hit the nail on the head. It's hardly even about keeping the snakes anymore, just about breeding (and breeding and breeding and inbreeding...) to get a morph you can sell for thousands. The only normals for sale...
My G. rosea rushed me when I opened her enclosure to refill her water dish. I squealed, well, like a girl and prepared to defend myself with the enclosure lid. My rosie is obviously unhinged.

G. rosea's are also great starter tarantulas, but can be...
GBB. Definitely one of my favorites.
I would've said A. versi, but they seem to be antisocial. My husband has a juvie and she is in her tube web 95% of the time. I have an adult and she is rarely out, either. (I still love 'em, though.)
Or you can't go wrong with a Brachy.
I missed that Avic -- or someone bought it. I scored an A. metallica at the last expo I went to. She was generically labeled as a "Pink Toe Tarantula," only when I got her outside in better light I noticed she had white hairs.
It's kinda disappointing that critters offered at the Northwest...
