    Tiny tiny slings?

Thanks for everyone who chimed in, and yes viper, I'm interested in sp. red, somehow I completely forgot to include that in the original post. I think I'll go ahead and get them, as long as they don't fast for months it should be okay. :) I acquired a P. scrofa awhile ago and she seems to fit...

    Tiny tiny slings?

Hm, interesting. Well, that's a bit more reassuring. :) How often do yours tend to accept food? Weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc?

    Tiny tiny slings?

I did hear they were picky eaters, it is good to know they haven't croaked even after 3 months without food though. I may get a batch of 5, just in case there are casualties due to fasting. Given how pick they've been, I'm guessing they've been growing really slow for you?

    Tiny tiny slings?

I'm thinking of ordering some Euathlus slings that would be about 1/6 of an inch :O_o: Now, I've taken care of slings before, but never anything this tiny. I'm just wondering if this size will make things particularly difficult or if I should expect to lose some due to them being very fragile at...

    A. versi slipping

Not to worry, I made sure to poke very tiny holes. :) Hopefully :D So far he's eaten three 1 week crickets so hopefully he fattens up and molts pretty soon. I'm not sure honestly, I know the 'slipping' behaviour of mine was not caused by premolt because he's been gobbling down crickets and...

    A. versi slipping

Good to know, means I have a little less to worry about. :) Good news though, it webbed a fair bit over night, and just tackled a cricket a minute ago, so hopefully all is well with the little guy. I made each vent hole a bit larger so maybe the extra air flow perked it up.

    A. versi slipping

Yes, I added holes up all around the sides after that pic. Here's one from today if it helps. I may make a few rows of the holes larger just to err on the side of caution. http://i.imgur.com/oXhTGJY.jpg?2

    A. versi slipping

I only got it 3 days ago, it looks identical to the picture, but I'll take a new one once I get back from dinner. Thanks for the suggestions so far. :)

    A. versi slipping

That's just what I was told, so I can't be 100% positive. Here's a pic though: http://i.imgur.com/aWOvunF.jpg I'd certainly feel better if it was in premolt, so I don't have to worry about it, I just didn't think it could happen so fast. Also, the picture was on the day I picked it up, before...

    A. versi slipping

It molted around a week ago which is why I don't think it's premolt, please correct me if I'm wrong but I've never really heard of a sling entering premolt a week after molting. I suppose it's possible that the material of the cup or some kind of substance on the cup is preventing traction, but...

    A. versi slipping

I got a 3/4 inch versi sling a few days ago and I'm noticing that it seems to not be able to climb very well, and frequently slips and falls in his deli cup. As far as I know it molted very recently in the breeder's care so I think premolt is out of the question, are there any other possible...

    T. Blondi in poor condition.

Looks like a Lasiodora to me too, maybe a difficilis.

How old is my Lasiodora Parahybana (pictures included)?

Tarantulas do drink from damp substrate, so I'd bet that's what it's doing. Exceptions do exist to every rule though. ;) It is of course possible, just not very likely. Pet stores and the like do seem to have a tendency of assigning ages to their spiders/reptiles without having the faintest...

How old is my Lasiodora Parahybana (pictures included)?

Age is impossible to guess by size, as size can vary dramatically depending on the species, feeding schedule, husbandry, etc. That being said though, LPs are an extremely fast growing taratula and can get to 6" in a year no problem, so I highly doubt yours is a year old. I really wouldn't worry...

    I Adopted My First Tarantula

Oh no :( I hope you find her safe and sound. The only T escape I've had was an arboreal who I found on the ceiling so I can't give much advice, aside from the already stated 'dark and secure' settings. Under furniture, behind furniture, shoes, nooks and crannies around the house, anywhere a...

Which price is better for an A. Geniculata?

According to the Arachnophiliac's website, A. genics are not one of the species that require CITES paperwork. Nonetheless, I would still order from a dealer within your country, as shipping a T over from Canada is going to be expensive regardless of CITES paperwork. I also wouldn't shell out...

    I Can't Find My P. Regalis

Maybe they meant the abdomen doubled, rather than the overall size of the T? Just a guess. On the original topic though, are you absolutely certain the holes aren't large enough for your T to escape from? Tarantulas, especially slings, can wedge themselves through surprisingly tiny openings. If...

    Got in my first T

Woohoo! Good job for conquering your fear. I did the same thing to try and get over my arachnophobia, now I absolutely love arachnids. :) I can totally relate to the first rehousing being terrifying, moving my L. parahybana into her tank for the first time was so nervewracking! Once you do it a...

I think my tarantula is sick or something.

Might be a long shot, but do you happen to have a mature male? (emboli on pedipalps, tibial hooks) Ever since my A. versi male matured, he paces constantly and frequently stumbles.

Where is best to keep my tarantula tank?

He/she is definitely not a year old, trust me ;) LPs are extremely fast growing, they just skyrocket in size as slings/juvies. Don't worry, I doubt there's anything wrong with her, tarantulas can be very elusive at times. Definitely keep the substrate dry, I find terrestrials get very, very...
