    what's your "dream pede"?

Steven posted a picture here about three years ago of a blue pede with red legs. It was amazing. I think there was still some question as to the species, but it was thought to come from Israel. It's a while back to remember. I'd walk across the ocean to buy that animal.

    What's your longest lived centipede?

I have a subspinipes that I acquired nine months ago. It has grown from five inches to 6 1/2 inches. It was six inches long at the five month mark. I have a five and a half inch Malaysian Cherry Red. I will keep tabs on growth here. I also have three heros at 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches. I will...

What is the second biggest pede???

I get it. There are a number of unique features I would like to have in my collection, and impressive size is among them. That said, Steven, I have never coveted an animal more than the red and blue pede you posted here...

Imagine that! An animal that envenomates with dimethyltryptamine. That would certainly complicate some law enforcement efforts.

    House centipedes?

Mine was actually in the street at night. I was surprised, as it was early spring and still pretty cold outside. It was outside a coffee shop, so there were cups in the trash. I've seen many of them, usually indoors. When I find another, I'll give him to someone with less luck in spotting them.

    House centipedes?

I caught a giant black cricket a week or so ago. I put it in with my little scutigera. The cricket was actually larger than Scooter. Yesterday, on top of the rock in Scooter's tank, I found Scooter eating the monster. He goes ages without eating, but when he does...wow! sidenote: Sccoter...

Laughing is a form of response to emotional stimuli that is just short of crying. That which surprises, transgresses or offends is often funny by those merits alone. Nothing is too sacred for humor. One does not need to keep a straight face to show that they are morally opposed to something...

video of my S. subspinipes eating mouse

This concern is expressed in regard to a number of hobbies. The fact is, keeping centipedes isn't necessary. Hobbies are a way to stimulate the mind and spark the imagination. If you had an animal that could eat bits of carrot and survive, but ate crickets in the wild (just a hypothetical...

    Eating 'Pedes

There are plants which contain MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) or the functionally similar SSRI (selective seritonin reuptake inhibitors). If such an ingredient is prepared properly, it can allow certain alkaloids to be processed into your system before they are metabolized. I would be...
