It's remarkable that you stopped looking for it!
If I had misplaced a T in my house, in its tank, in a box, I would have looked until I found it!
Amazing that its still alive. A credit to the tarantulas ability.
Its more of a case of, I fancy playing golf. Never played before so I'm off to spend £700 on some clubs, hundreds more on clothes and memberships.
Oh. I don't really like it. Ah well.
In that situation you would borrow a friends clubs, then buy an old bunch of clubs your self, the go to...
No offence, but I really don't understand why people don't buy one T and keep it alive for several years before rushing and buying 10 in one month! I've had tarantulas for 18 years and I've only just expanded my collection to 9! Had my Rosie for 17 years.
Not saying you should wait that...
My balfouri looked like any other balfouri until it moulted. Then it was clear to see he is a male. I don't think there's any differences between gender till they mature. Then the make is very dark blue all over in comparrison.
I think it could be confusing for the tarantula being in dark all the time. Maybe a sense of day/night or time helps them with molting or feeding etc. Alot of small creatures use the cycle of night and day.
I think some times we worry too much about removing natural factors such as light or...
My tarantulas have the lights on the tanks on in the day, then when i go to bed the lights go off. I try to simulate day and night. If they dont like the light then they will hide, just as they would in the wild. Then come out when its night time.
They all seem fine.
Prekilled!
I even "half kill" a cricket or mealworm so it still had abit of movement for my slings. But most would take fully dead. Best thing about pre killed is if its still in there the next day, you can get it out no problem! No burrowing / hiding crickets!!
