I just got one of these as a freebie recently. My first dwarf and extremely small as a sling. I do know of at least one place to purchase these right now.

That spider is a fine choice. Molting does depend on feeding and temps but I would expect it to molt at least one a month for a few molts, maybe more. You'll be able to tell when it is going to because it will turn really dark and probably refuse food. Then after a molt, wait about a week before...
My solution to the stays wet to long issue is simple. Stockpile. It is cheap and I can buy a couple bricks, wet one brick, store it in
any container (I use big coffee containers) ahead of time. It'll dry soon enough. Basically just keep a little extra stocked for future crap.

If you can get it in natural light next to a window the true colors show. Snap a pic without the flash and see what you get. I know more than one have purple on their carapace. The red hairs near to abdomen can be indicators of sp. Some have them only on the abdomen and some have it spreading to...
Telling you that would be pointless as she only had five slings and sold me one. She has the other four and they are same size as mine. Sucks you got two males. Hate it when that happens.

Even better! A nice chill oversized Avic! Can't wait. Someone has already even called dibs on breeding if it turns out male. Will be a good long while till then though.

I received it today. Just shy of an inch. Really cool. A bit teleporty but cool. I think it actually tried biting me but didn't feel anything. Even did a suicide jump but its ok. I own other Avics, I just wanted to hear others personal experiences.

I had a rare chance to acquire one of these and now I have one on the way and have found little in the way of info or experiences with them on here. Just wondering if anyone has any decent experience with them as slings and/or adults?

They're good T's. Just very fast and sometimes skittish. I have P. pulcher,, P. irminia, and P. cam. The latter being more jumpy than the others. Very cool though.

Congrats. Just got my first Aphonopelma recently. I'm in love! I plan to someday have them all if possible. The list of them is quite large though but I love a challenge. I think they are up and coming in the hobby, finally!

Thanks! Thought I'd share a video of my A. avic chasing down a moth. She loves these things.

I hear ya. I bought a H. lividum last week. A couple days later, she is in her coconut hide and has webbed the entrance shut. First time any of my t's have done this. I understand it is because a molt is imminent. But man, it keeps me worried not being able to see.
